Indiana University Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Yesterday and today.

Yesterday “are they close?” AO: Yes very close.
Today “are they close?” AO: Yes very very close.
Tomorrow “are they close?” AO: Yes very very very close.

Just light humor. They are close. Very close. Very very close.

Does anyone know when acceptances for the Hutton Honors come out?

@jefrobertson I was hoping today, but nothing has changed in the portal. Still says “awaiting decision”. Do you know anything about the School of Public Health, (sports marketing and management)? Just curious if you think there’s a chance my son MAY hear tomorrow, or should I expect Monday?

I’m curious why Monday?

Hey everyone, I recently checked my portal and noticed that my Hutton Honors College application has disappeared from my checklist AFTER submitting it
has this happened to anyone else?

“late February” according to the website. Admissions: Hutton Honors College: Indiana University Bloomington.

Why Monday? I’d heard they were targeting the 13th to release. I think they’ll start Monday - doesn’t mean they will. It’s a big batch and as soon as it starts it becomes portal check and calls/emails as why didn’t I hear. They will also defer a number of people in this round. The goal is everyone hears “by” January 15 not “on” January 15.

Kelley parents tend to be more uber aware of the competitiveness and posting. You’re far from the only non-Kelley parent. Preview Day is the Arts & Sciences direct admit day. Kelley may call their day Preview Day now too I don’t know. Red Carpet Day is a catch-all general IU admit opportunity. There’s not much difference just a bit more focus on your direct college. There’s no “better” to attend. When they admit you - they want you to visit, they craft a few different ways to get you there.

Thanks for the info. This may be a dumb question, but with IU having a pretty high acceptance rate, what do you feel would constitute a deferral? Is there some sort of specific stats that cause a student to get deferred as opposed to admitted?

I hope deferrals won’t be that many considering the historic high acceptance rates. Not sure if they defer a lot to regular cycle and then end up accepting most which could explain the high acceptance rate. S25 was accepted to MSU with merit aid and it has a similar acceptance rate nearly 1.5 months back, both applied at the same time but still waiting here for a decision. You never know how these decisions pan out in different institutions for sure. Except for direct admission to some majors like Business, Indiana Uni is a not that difficult to get admitted (historically). I also think most of the rejects/deferrals will be from the Business school applicant pool as they form a big chunk of applications. Most of my son’s classmates (OOS) plan to come to IU only if they get admitted to Kelley (direct or upon petition review) and might explain the high acceptance rate due to high level of OOS applicants.

Thanks for the input. I wouldn’t THINK my son would get deferred, but the longer we wait, I think it just gets more nerve wrecking.

Anyone think they will release the last round of EA since today is Friday or will they wait until the 15th?

I sure hope it’s today, but at this point I’ve resigned myself to thinking it will come at midnight on the 15th.

Does anyone know when Indiana ea is coming out?

Son has not heard but passed a pre screen and will be auditioning for percussion performance. Hope he gets an acceptance soon.

Purdue just confirmed by “Purdue News” that they will be January 15, thinking that both are on the same state, Indiana U will maintain their Jan 15 as well.

For real. We submitted 10/6 and they didn’t receive transcript until 12/9! Ugh

Same state but IU and Purdue don’t move in lock-step. They even recently divorced in Indianapolis–IUPUI broke into IUI and PUI!

They may both release on 1/15, but I don’t think it’s because they are both state universities of Indiana.
