Question for the group. Does anyone know if the direct admission programs at IU have an application deadline? Do students have to apply EA (before Nov 1) or are students still considered if they hand in their applications by regular admission deadline?
For Kelley, as an example, can be considered but not automatic.
The actual words:
You must submit a review request for Kelley direct admission.
Ours said missing too for a very long time, even after showing it was downloaded via Parchment. Also our self reported SAT scores still say missing. Daughter put them in on the Common App and also submitted the IU self-reported form. So it looks like each step takes WEEKS to get the green checkmark.
Lol, a ânotchâ below UVA? I love IU, but thatâs an understatement! UVA is insane. They canât be compared in my book, but IU does a reasonably decent job, too. UVA also has the overall university ranking and prestige going for it.
Youâre right. It is insane.
If you believe US News you have it reversed. McIntire is a notch below Kelley. IU 9 ahd UVA 12. I donât know if you go by US News but many do.
Iâm not sure anyone can really look at even top 20 or who knows what number business schools and say 1 is necessarily above the other just via rankings. Can you get where you want to go? Certainly Kelley has done a tremendous job of placing people in jobs.
You might well be more employable at Kelley than UVA in part because of the Kelley unrelenting focus on B-school compared to UVA which is more of a overall education experience. UVA is for sure a more difficult university to be admitted generally and then to get admitted into the B School once there. And UVA is an amazing University as is IU. Who knows.
Admissions by stat rankings will be something to watch as schools bring back SAT/ACT. Half of the students admitted right now to a lot of high ranked undergrad B-schools do not report a test score which raises substantially the average SAT because people are only reporting really high scores. Kelley to get the direct admit requires you to submit - which lowers its admit SAT/ACT and lowers that component of the ranking.
does it show test scores received? My son submitted everything weeks ago and it still says those are missing. Transcript was received.
Same issue with regard to the SAT scores. It has been weeks (he applied early August) so I cannot understand what the holdup is.
Iâm going off the recent US News ranking from this year with Darden (albeit their grad school) at #10 and Kelley at #20. But no one can even argue about the reputation of UVA over IUâŠIâm born and raised in Indiana but I know UVA is superior. If in-state cost were not a factor I would pick UVA for the overall reputation in a heartbeat. For in-state, though, I definitely you canât beat Kelley!
Did you send in official SAT scores yet? I was just going to wait on that since my daughter is taking one last time this coming weekend. Perhaps they only give the green check once they receive College Board verification?
Wrong ranking. Darden is MBA. Not undergrad. Undergrad IU is higher than McIntire (which is UVA).
Itâs natural someone would pick IU over UVA because one is direct admit and one isnât.
One can argue that UVA overall is superior to IU. Iâll agree in perception but that doesnât mean it is. Itâs more selective. IU has wonderful programs - politucs, languages, music and more.
There will be many a student who is UVA attainable but chooses to attend IU
IU doesnât require official scores, at least thatâs what our AO told my son. He wanted to include his most recent ACT scores and emailed his AO. This is what he saidâŠ
You can update your scores here:
https://iuusssad-fireform.eas.iu.edu/online/form/index/IUBLASelfRep
We donât need the official scores so no need to spend money on that cost.
IU does not require official SAT scores. You may self report.
He did not send official scores because donât require official scores until after acceptance. He did fill out the self submit form on the admissions page. It has been several weeks. I will have him reach out next week if status has not changed.
That is what my son used to report scores. It has been 3 weeks and the portal still has scores marked missing.
Yes, it shows test score received. My daughter applied in mid-August though, so they have had a lot of time to get those test scores entered in. We did go ahead and just have official scores sent to everywhere she applied.
Same story here! Let me know if he finds anything out. My daughter is taking the SAT on Saturday so might end up self-submiting again if they are better. My thinking is that IU wonât check off the SAT requirement until they get the official scores, but they will still use the unofficial report for the application. Does anyone know when IU decisions are out? Iâm assuming January-ish like many schools? THANKS! Good luck to you guys!
Thats awesome to get the green check! WTG! Iâm thinking that we wonât get the check mark with just the self-reported score form. I think they will only confirm officially when they get the score report from College Board. After my daughter gets her October scores we will send them in just so we donât forget. College board is soooooooo slow though unless you rush scores. Great job being so on the ball!
Per the admissions website it says: * If you submit a complete application by November 1, you may get a response on or before December 15. Decisions will continue to be made, and all early action applicants will receive a decision on or before January 15.
My son should be a DA to Kelley. 32 ACT, 4.3 GPA, 1 high school. So we are hoping to hear early! He submitted scores with his common app so Iâm thinking thatâs why we donât see scores in his checklist. It does say âInclude test scores in reviewâ under his application details.
Last year, I believe some heard in late November. Either way, we will all hear by Jan 15. The waiting is so hard. Patience is a virtue, right?
Thanks for your input. Did your son request for official scores to be sent to IU? We are in similar boat, DA to Kelley - 1490 SAT and 3.89 UW. My understanding is that official scores only need to be sent if the student is accepted and matriculating.
