My kid used common app essay - a different prompt.
While I see how rolling admissions can be a wonderful thing for those admitted early, the anxiety of waiting is not a pleasant thing.
IU might not be āselectiveā but the campus is gorgeous and some of their programs are amazing. My son fell in love with the campus when we visited. I did as well.
I personally think 200-400 wordsā¦is an incredibly short piece of writing. If the student is not interested in submitting it ā¦so be it.
If the student is interested- they have the details of the assignment. Do it. Donāt do it. If itās too much⦠I think you have answered your own question. I wish you and your student well on the journey. It sounds like they have options to choose from - which is very exciting.
(That was 76 words, and I wasnāt even trying).
My opinion is that I think itās definitely more of a the parents being more disappointed than the kids are. A lot of acceptance letter collectors for FB, Insta, tiktok reveal post. Probably not a popular opinion but most true opinions usually arenāt. Still hope the best for all the kids though.
We have not heard either and no changes at all to the portal. Has said Application complete and Awaiting Decision since early October. Any answer at this point would be nice.
My essay was read today.Does that mean i will get the decision today?I applied early action
Wait, how do you know if it was read?
If you are not eligible for DA Kelly, when does the decision usually show up?
My friendās portal shows : āYou do not have any applications at this time.ā . Anyone knows what this is all about. He applied to kelly.
Sonās portal say Application Complete and Awaiting Decision since late September or early October. Has green check marks near transcript and 2 letters of rec. There is a drop down if I click it that lists items, but above the drop down it says to ignore if there has been no request. He hasnāt been sent an email requesting things. Is something wrong?
We are in the same boat. I guess we find out today?
Do you think there will be a avalanche of acceptance comments today or similar to the trickle we have seen come in over the past few days?
My S is also still waitingā¦Comprehensive Design. I donāt think he even knows that all EA decisions should be out by tonight, and I have not said a word. Iāll keep this stress to myself. ![]()
From the website:
Please be aware the Kelley Admissions Committee is committed to providing a comprehensive review for all students. Therefore, due to the volume of applications, a notification decision may not be provided until April 14, 2025.
This was always the timeline, so even if an applicant who didnāt meet the DA criteria and submitted a petition received a deferral, mid April was always the timing.
Some who are not DA to Kelley have heard back from IU (either acceptance or deferral from what I can tell), but others (like my kid) have not heard anything at all yet. Weāll see today, I suppose!
My kid is in the same boat - Shd be DA to Kelley and nothing! Seems like everyone else has heard!
Same! My son applied to the Jacobs School of Music, major is Percussion Performance. We are heading to Nashville this weekend for an audition, so weāll be distracted. I know today is supposedly the day, but Im not convinced heāll hear back. Meanwhile, he passed a pre screen and has an audition scheduled for the music school.
Yes. They start petition review from Feb 1 and notifications are on a rolling basis. So, for deferrals, with IU having Mar 15 as notification deadline, the chances of acceptance get even slimmer. My sonās petition is with Kelley business school since Nov 1 st week and IU admission is the first step. No sure If they do review for IU admission and Kelley petition simultaneously, if so, it should be fine for deferrals. Here is email response from Kelley following petition submission. āThe Kelley Admission Committee will not begin evaluations until after deadline to submit (February 1st). Notifications will be released on a rolling basis. All candidates will have a response by April 14th, 2025, by 5 pm ET.ā
No. It will change once the decision is posted. My daughters said that until yesterday when application complete changed to welcome to IU. Her portal changed about 1/2 hour to hour before she got the email.
My childās portal looks the same. I do not think there is an issue with submission material or portal.
