Indiana University Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Hi guys! I basically got the email saying I was admitted, but my portal was not updated nor did I get any emails asking to register for Red Carpet day/new student events. Should I be concerned?

Same thing for me. Got an email saying i am admitted on 15jan, but the atlas portal is not updated yet. However the admission tab under one.iu has changed status to admitted instead of application in progress!

What do you mean you basically got the email?

Just email your IU counselor & confirm. Asking this group may give you some theories but won’t give you any definitive answers.

DD applied Business Exploratory at Kelley (we knew was a longshot) with second choice as Econ BA in Arts and Sciences. She was deferred. Do you think her second choice major was considered? She wants to switch her major for reconsideration but should she switch first choice to Econ or to something totally different (sociology also interests her and fits with her HS transcript)?

This is what it says: Dear (my name) Congratulations on your admission to Indiana University Bloomington as a Pre-Business student with the intended major of Finance for Fall 2025!–I think I worded my original post weirdly, sorry!

Deleted bc not helpful.

My DS was asked to write the additional prompt as he selected business for his major. He then switched his application to the college of arts and sciences with economics as his major two days ago, wrote the short prompt yesterday and less than three hours later he got an acceptance. My oldest son just graduated from Kelley and I know it would be a grind and a big stretch for my youngest so I think this is the best outcome for him if he decides to attend IU. Hope that helps

I think it’s kid dependent.

I found b school way easier than Econ - hence I didn’t study Econ - which will have a lot more reading and high level math.

I know you are talking other factors but academically, one might find Econ easier but I suspect most would not.

Agree depends on the kid just know how challenging and somewhat stressful it was for my oldest and he was a direct admit. Trying to get in from pre-business is not guaranteed and can be more challenging. Also depends on the kid but once you get in you have to stay in and i know his classmates that had to pick a different school at Iu as they found it very challenging. Hence why it’s a top notch undergrad program.

thank you for this info! had he listed econ as his second choice on the original app?

@jefrobertson My son received an email inviting him to apply to the Kelley ACE Program. There is an application with essays due in February and then an interview during Kelley Direct Admit Day on March 7-8. Do you know what the interview process is like, how many students get into the program, or the acceptance rate?

Good to know that an IU email will come first. Then, we don’t have to check the portal every hour.

No his second choice was finance

My son’s portal updated with his admission on Jan 15, but he still hasn’t received the email telling him!

My daughter didn’t get her email until a week later. Would give it time.

There’s a whole other thread on the program. It’s a year or two old but has details that could be helpful?

My son applied EA, from Canada, DA to Kelley, 4.0 unweighted GPA, IB grades, no test scores so he completed the request review. No word yet so he’s eagerly crossing his fingers!

Did you receive an email telling you the deadline is extended? My International son received an email early on Jan 17th letting him know that the deadline for EA is extended due to overwhelming number of applications. Time to practice patience and manifest positive news!
