My son was in the last group to be notified for his EA acceptance. He was officially notified of his acceptance on 1/16 instead of on the 1/15 date due to some system error that his IU counselor acknowledged when he inquired. Has anyone in this group received any scholarship notification today? I am hoping against hope that this group is not having yet another system error like the one that delayed their admission decision!
Iām confused as to why you assume no one else who applied EA will be admittedā¦International EA students got an email saying bc of the number of applicants, the admissions is behind and students will hear back between Jan 15-Feb 15? Clearly more kids who applied EA will get admitted; itās highly doubtful your son is in the last group to get admitted
My OOS son was ultimately accepted but somehow his decision group (made up of other EA applicants) was not notified until 1/16 rather than by 1/15 like most EA applicants. The IU counselor told my son that it was a technical issue. They fixed it by 1/16 and he received his acceptance then. I am just worried that this same technical issue is causing him and others in that decision group to not receive the scholarship decision. We compared notes with several friends who received the Deanās Scholarship so we are confident that my son would receive one based on his stats but we are just concerned that same technical glitch is affecting his notification again. Hence, I am asking other families who received the EA decision after 1/15 whether they had or had not received the scholarship decision.
same! i got 11.5k deans and 7k for HHSP!
Did you fill out the scholarship form? I just learned my son got an email on it but did not fill it out. I am wondering if that is why he has not heard, or if these decisions are outside the form.
Yes, he submitted the scholarship essay yesterday. Deadline is 2/1. I believe the Deanās Scholarship is awarded without application based on the admitted studentās stats.
My sonās scholarship letter for the Deanās Scholarship came about 10 days after the admissions decision. So maybe your sonās is still forthcoming.
Petitions are due February 1st. They wonāt roll out decisions until after that.
We received our decision on the 14th and just got notice of Deanās scholarship yesterday. So yours may still be coming.
Where do you find the scholarship letters?
My daughter received $10K/year. OOS, 1460 SAT, 3.96 UW GPA, so very good stats, but not phenomenal. I think she had good ECs, but I also think ECs are hard to judge, so who knows?
Same question.
She received an email about it 10 days after her acceptance. In the portal on the homepage there is a button next to āView Your Decisionā called āView Your Scholarship Letterā.
from reading other posts here, $10k a year is amazing. My OOS son has similar stats and only got $2k a year. Congrats to your daughter!
Thanks! In all honesty, we werenāt expecting any money, so anything wouldāve been nice! I do wonder how they decide who gets it and how much. At UTK they have an easy formula to follow.
Could you send the link of the portal if possible?
my son also got into UTK and is getting $13K a year there. Itās like night and day compared to IU. I appreciate UTKās transparency with merit. I wish other universities were more like that.
Same here. My D got 13k/yr from UTK and 3k/yr from IU. I wonder if IU increases merit scholarship amounts as other applicants decline their offers of admission or when updated transcripts are received.
Same with my daughter at UTK. For Clemson the letter only made reference to future merit, TBD at the end of Marchā¦so I think thatās even worse having no idea until that late.
IU has long given out slim merit and Iāve never heard of an increase.
There are many schools that have merit tables - UTK inclusive but many others. And there are many others that do not.
Thatās easy to understand up front when one is building their selection set.
IU is not, overall, a big merit school.
Many states/colleges will say education costs more than students pay. Some states fund this and some do not and actually seek high OOS dollars - Colorado, as an example, is another like IU - most get $6250 a year and thatās it.
