@somewhereibelong

what were your scholistic achievements(other than SATs)
what ECs in detail
any social service

International acceptance rate to MIT was a mere 3%. O:

@somewhere- congrats! Tha was the last song I heard before my decision :stuck_out_tongue:
Where else did you apply? Are you Indian or Dubai citizen? And I’m shocked they accepted you with such a huge typo on my app.

[]Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: guess not “MIT” material. Average applicant by MIT standards and i’m more inclined towards the humanities.
[]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:[/ul] Wish more Indians had got accepted. But don’t worry we still have plenty more to come in 2 weeks’ time.

KJ222>>somwhereibelong

Talk about “holistic admission” :P

aniruddhc u cannot say that. u dont know either one perosonally and i think MIT makes perfect decisions. so u cant judge who is better that who.

You’re not really welcome on this forum with your expert counseling advice, aniruddhc :slight_smile: I hope you know that.

@aniruddhc: We can’t really judge an applicant based on face value stats. The only thing we can be sure about is that MIT has reason to accept or reject an applicant. We just have to try and figure out that reason. In retrospect I think my essays didn’t quite display passion. Besides my intended major was economics and in my opinion MIT favours applicants with a passion for science, which I obviously could not show.
I’m just curious, is there anyone without safeties? I have no safeties and I’m planning to take a gap year if I don’t get into the colleges I want. Is it advisable to do so?

^^I have none. Unless you count Indian univs.

rejected. Toefl 110 ml2 800 phy 800. National road cycling champion. inmo qualifier in 9th 11th and again in 12th. Hope i go to imo this time.

english sucks

@gary7: I just saw your post on another thread. Wow IITs are a safety? That’s amazing! I don’t even have Indian Univs as safeties.
