Indians applying to MIT

I’m still surprised that so few guys got into MIT from India . They chose around 50 GUYS from 3500 international applicants so that kind of made me happier that i was rejected . im not putting up my stats .no point .everytime i see stats i realise mit isnt looking for one type of person at all …they really need sth special from international students .
@KJ2222 : Hey Karan …nice to see u here.
I’m surprised u were rejected from MIT, I thought u were a sure shot for it , especially wit ur english …

Thanks, everyone.

YES, stats don’t matter, everyone I know of that’s gotten in has done something to make them stand out from the rest…

There are seven Indians (living in India) this year

7? thats nice…where did u get that bit from?

^Like gary said, there’s a list. Also the alumni association sent us a mail :)

7? Last year there were 5, weren’t there?

And 7>>5?! Lol. A recent year, they only had 2. That’s what made me give up on MIT, mainly :)

Well let me put this straight --» Rich idiots only go to US univs :-C Damn Them…

Rich ‘idiots’? Seems pretty obvious to me who’s the idiot here…

@TheNextBuffett if you think that ways then why are you on this forum? Most of the people sign up on the forum who are interested in attending US universities…
and since you have joined the forum too it seems that u are just another idiot who wants to go to US for education…

My tip to you is think before you post…

cogratulations esconie, hope u r celebratin well…

I read that four Indians (that is, with Indian citizenship) got into MIT this year.
Three were International Olympiad Medalists.
The fourth attends addresses conferences of scientists.
1 in 26 international students gets in. The competition is brutal.
If you are Indian (holding an Indian passport) and lack exceptional, international-level recognition, such as International Olympiads or the Google Science Fair, don’t apply.

viva1994: That is extremely horrible to say. People do not come here to get their spirits lowered. I know one of them, and he has no Olympiad or Science summits.

8 people got into MIT this year. And yeah @viva, people make it to all the amazing schools without having any international level recognition.

what are their accomplishments? As in the people who get into mit?

Most of them are international Olympiads position holders, I guess.

So MIT is virtually no for others? What about National Olympiads?
