Hey guys,
I am an international student, and as many others, I need financial aid. So I am looking for any information.
If you are an international student who is currently receiving financial aid, please tell where you are studying, what were your scores and how much aid you got.
Thank you!

What are your stats?

Country: Belarus
SAT I: 2140 (CR 690 M 780 W 670)
SAT II: Math II 800, Phyiscs 800
TOEFL: 112
GPA 9.4 out of 10, probably around 3.76
Top 5% of class
EC: Russian Open International Olympiad in Informatics - 2nd degree diploma
Russian International Team Contest in Informatics - 3rd degree diploma
National contests in Informatics - 2nd and 3rd degree diplomas
some more contests in math and English

Your stats are excellent except for the SAT 1 CR and W.

Are you applying for next year? The deadlines are in a few days. Search for “need blind for international students”. There are only a handful of schools that give good aid to internationals and they are extremely competitive.

I know that it’s very hard to get financial aid for an international. That’s why I wanted other internationals, those who already received financial aid, to write about themselves. So far, it seems there are no such people.

@bouders
Actually, 680 CR for a foreigner is very good for someone who has TWO international olympiad records.
Although have CR over 700+ will be better, I think the OP is in very good good shape.

@vlad7777 if you want to retake SAT, colleges will accept the January Score.

Hey I’m from Indonesia and got a full ride from Colorado EA (60K+). My scores are not really outstanding (ACT 33, GPA 93/100, and 800/770 Math 2/Chem, and only a 104 on iBT).
^^ is that Colorado College?
It should be colorado college
That’s what I think – I just don’t want international students thinking it’s University of Colorado, a public university and as such rarely granting full tuition to out-of-state applicants
Getting full aid at Colorado college is VERY VERY impressive because their aid is very limited although they say they guarantee full aid upon an acceptance
Hi everyone! I’m currently being considered for a full-tuition merit scholarship at the University of Southern California. My stats:
SAT: 2150 (CR 690, M 690, W 770)
SAT II: Literature (790), German (790), French (800), Math I (760).
GPA: 4.0
TOEFL: 120
Rank: 1/94
I don’t want to list ECs, but I will mention that I attended two schools at the same time & took GCE A Levels along with my national curriculum. I think I’m up for the scholarship because of my essays/supplement, though. They count a lot in my major!
Erm…I guess I’m the only one posting on this thread, but here goes again:
My stats are above, and I recently got a pretty good financial aid package from Kenyon College.
COA is $65,360 and my financial aid package is $60,892 (need based grant: $55,892; loan: $3,000; employment: $2,000)
COngratulation!
Kenyon college is pretty good. Remember that USC doesn’t give need based aid…
USC tuition only still leaves your fees and room and board to pay. Add another 20K to the costs.

Of course, if you can get into one of the six schools that guarantee to meet full financial need for all students including internationals, you are fine. But those schools are very hard to get into (Harvard, Yale, MIT, Princeton, Dartmouth, Amherst). With the OP’s Informatics Olympiad background, I;m presuming that he applied or will be applying to MIT, which is really hard for anyone to get into, but there is no disadvantage in applying and taking the application fee waiver if you need it.
Congrats @LayraSparks on Kenyon. That seems a great aid package.
@paul2752 Thank you!
Yes, I know USC doesn’t give need-based aid…that’s why I said MERIT scholarship. Also, some full-tuition awards have $5000 stipends you can use toward room & board.
BTW, if I get the scholarship I’m definitely attending USC, even though I will need to pay a lot more. I know Kenyon is pretty good, but I’ve visited USC, and I’m also a Film major, which makes it by far the best option.
@vlad7777 Do you have anything yet?
I just got my first official aid offer. 42k from Earlham College (20k grant+20k presidential scholarship+2k self help). Time will show what I get from the 19 other schools I applied to. I’ll post an update on April 1st so future classes can use me as a reference point.
My stats and school list for the curious:
Go to USC if you grt a good offer. It IS a great school for film major
