If I do a search on my Ipad with, say a key word, it may bring up several pages of threads, with the page #s sequentially at the bottom of the first page of posts. But, if I click on the second page to go read the next posts, it thinks the list is a phone # and won’t change to page 2, but instead gives me options to place a call, facetime, text, etc.
Hmm…that sounds more like a browser add-on or app. I know with Skype installed I would see phone numbers turn into links that would allow me to call directly with Skype. I had to go into the Skype settings to turn this off. I’m not saying it is Skype, but perhaps something else you may have installed. Did it start happening recently? I wish I had an iPad handy to see if I could replicate this.
Dont think it just started happening. I dont use the search function all that often, and especially on the ipad, but seems to me it happened the last time I tried it as well.
Well I tried to play with the skype setting on the ipad and it didnt make any difference. Thepage numbers at the bottom of the page when I have a long list of searched threads still pulls up the “call using iphone;facetime audio;send message;add to contacts;copy” list when I try to click on a page # to go to the next page. Its an Ipad4. Can someone try to duplicate this issue?
I could not duplicate on an iPad2. Are you only seeing this when using the search function? What about long threads that have multiple pages of posts? That would also have the numbers at the bottom right.
It happens when I do the search function, which pulls up that “powered by custom search” page, and the page numbers on the bottom left. Does not happen directly in threads with multiple pages, and page numbers on the bottom right.
@jym626 I just tried on my ipad. I’m having no problems and use the search function all the time. I am clicking on the page numbers in random variations below and all are showing fine.
It also does not say powered by, and the numbers are on the right. I am using the magnifying search and advanced search.
BTW, could you do me a favor and click on the forward arrow at the bottom. When I do it, it opens up an email app, but the thread URL is not in the body, simply the generic talk.collegeconfidential.com. I already reported this.
I found the problem @jym626. You are searching entire site. Just search forum. It’s up at the search/advanced search. I duplicated when I transferred to entire site.
I’ll check when I am on my ipad but thanks for vcalidating that its a program issue and not my ipad. But if I dont know what forum something is in, I would like this function to work!
Ohh, it only shows the forum you’re in? I thought it was entire forum.
UPDATE: I just checked. It shows all forums as far as I can tell.
I am not on my ipad but I put a key word in the “search entire site” line (especially when I dont know what forum a thread is in) and thats when the problem occurs. Are you able to replicate it?
Yes, I did replicate it exactly as you said. The powered by, the placement of page numbers, the result when you click on it. So that is a problem that needs fixing.
However, in terms of forums, “search forum” searches them all - but obviously not the whole site.
