İs it Hard to Study

really.but Purdue is great at engineering majors.i wanna study engineering.İs Purdue enough for me?
İf i wanna take aid from Princeton,What scores i need from sat ??

Getting in Princeton requires more than great SAT. You have to be the BEST to get in there. :)

hım oke.for an international student which college do you recommend me (has great engineering majors–and after graduation a job - guarantee)??

do u need a lot of financial aid? How much can u afford to pay every yr?

i can pay 22000$ every year

apply to Purdue with 2000+ SAT score. U will get in with a 13.5k scholarship.

U can apply to Gatech, Purdue, UMich… and then all those colleges which gives financial aid like MIT, Caltech, Rice, Cornell, Princeton, etc…

Really!13.5k for an international student.is it possible.Sorry i dont understand the scores of SAT because the nextday iwill come and prepare for SAT.İs it hard to take 2000+SAT what is it mean ?
2)İs Purdue Good At Engineering majors ?

2000+ SAT score isnt very hard to get. Prepare urself well for the test. Best of luck!

Purdue is a very good engineering school. Yes, they offer 13.5k scholarship for your whole 4 yrs at Purdue. They also offer some departmental scholarships.

Can i Ask you a question.
Still İ dont know what I’ll choose (engineering or marine transportation–become a mate–)
After Graduate which one is more wage earning??

I dont have any idea about marine transportation, but one can earn a big income by being an entrepreneural or creative engineer. Moreover, engineers can find good employment in diverse sectors which gives it an upperhand over the other Undergraduate courses.

really my friends who is studying marine transportation in SUNY Maritime.they said me a third mate earns 7000$ per month.İf i decide to be an engineer i will choose mechanic or computer or civil engineer. How much money can they earn per month ?better than a third mate?what do you think ?

Salary depends upon the quality of the student.
Average is around 60k for Computer Engineers.

60k for a year?not enough for the standarts of U.S you cant save money enough for your future.after years still 60k ?

No…its the first placement salary. It increases with time.

hımm thank you ronty.someone has just said me mcgill is good too.not better than purdue but much cheaper than it and salary is the same after graduate.is it true ?

dont know about the salary. I think US will offer u with more job opportunities, though not sure about McGill.

i think you 're right about that.

Sezgikocak, I am going to try to answer some of your questions. I am the mother of two girls who have gone through the US application system (we are US citizens). One is majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University. (The other girl is not an engineering major )There are many fine schools that offer engineering- they are not all represented on this board. Michigan and Purdue are both very good, so is the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign (UIUC). My husband graduated from Michigan State with Mechanical Engineering and has a great career. That being said, there probably is not as much scholarship money out there for Internationals, because these are taxpayer supported schools. They tend to give them more to graduate students. Private colleges usually can offer more in the form of aid or scholarships. You do not have to go to an Ivy league school to get a great education and therefore a great job. Near us, Bradley University in Illinois has a good engineering program as does the Milwaukee School of Engineering and there are many more schools like that. Now, no US college will ever guarantee employment. You have to get that on your own. However, with a good degree, some summer experience or a co-op program, it won’t be a problem. As for the SAT, schools look for more than that. Some colleges don’t even take the scores. They will want to know what classes you took- were they tough ones and especially were the classes math and science oriented. Do you have any extracurriculars, have you worked, or have you done anything interesting? Sometimes, colleges just want people from different places. That is one edge you will have at a lesser known school, especially in the midwest- they want diversity and its harder for those schools to get it. As for salaries, there is a wide range, most depends on experience. System, computer and chemical engineering probably command the higher salaries, however, that is not the best reason to go into those fields. You would be better off to come to a school as an undecided engineering major and then talk to an advisor when you get to your school. You usually do not have to decide in the first semester. Colleges know that many students are confused. They can help steer you to the right path for you. Hope this helps.

thank you for your answers.you really helped me alot.i will think about Illinois’ engineering programs.but the problem is,a university with 4 year tuition is 90.000$ for an international student.can i earn that money after graduate,in how many years?does it cost to do ??

denzico, look at it this way, how many Americans actually worked their ass off to study for the SATs? I am sure there were the slackers and people with anything-goes personality. But the internationals are truly interested and enthusiastic about studying in US and thus are capable of high scores. English-speaking or not, it is hard work that pays off at the end of the day ya.
