Is it just my computer or has the page gone all weird and narrow?

Just noticed the same thing. Ugh. I guess it wont’ look so bad when they manage to fill up the sides with more adverts :(

okay, so why am I the only one with the normal page? I’m starting to wonder why I’ve been left out, LOL. Mine is exactly the same as it’s always been. Why?

Another vote for putting the width back to where it was. This new width just wastes space on the sides and makes it less user friendly and is annoying. If the sides get filled with something other than space it’ll probably be even more annoying. I think so far those in favor os the change is 0 and (however many people responded on the thread).

I’ll second and third the annoyance…

nrdsb4 - It could be related to the resolution you have your screen set to. If you have it relatively low res it’ll still fill up the screen. Nowadays almost everyone uses higher resolutions which is why so many are noticing the empty space. What resolution are you using?

If most of us here, did not have any problem with our current resolution (and everyone in our families who also use our computers) - with this or any other site - why would we now have to or want to consider changing our resolution to accomodate CC???

Yes when I reduce my resolution it goes back to full width. I just did it to check, but I am not going to change my resolution to view CC. It works just fine for every other web page I go to.

Like a few other posters, mine is broader than before. I have to scroll right to read everything.

Awful!

I am so relieved to hear it is not just me! This is a truly aggravating change. And I definitely wouldn’t want to change overall resolution as it would make all other sites hard to see. What is the point ( I also fear it is a prelude to more advertising, dancing salespeople, aggravating graphics and ultimately failed communication…) There must be an alternative solution. Why would they want to drive off those of us so full of wisdom to another site?

I am embarrassed to admit that I am so computer illiterate that I don’t even know the answer to that question.

On mine I can just right click on an empty spot on my desktop and it brings up the control panel for Nividia which is my graphics card. That shows my resolution. I have to adjust it occasionally because if certain games are being played on my laptop and the battery dies the computer comes back on with a really low resolution.

Mine’s doing the same - wide blue margins on both sides. Nrdsb4, same boat with no idea about resolution. Will have to wait till hubby gets home tomorrow.

My display setting is 1600 x 1200. The new layout looks terrible.

To see/change display settings in windows:

Start -> Control Panel -> Display -> Change display settings

I am resolved not to alter my resolution…I actually do know the term because I had to ask the IT guy at work after some computer change up why I couldn’t read anything anymore and he (as usual) patiently explains the modern age to me.

But really! What is the purpose of “narrowing” us into this gulch of blue?

The text boxes with everyone’s posts are so small that the entire reading/commenting experience is downright unpleasant. There are huge margins on either side. What a waste of space!

Yes, agreeing with the collective wisdom here… (annoying, aggravating, awful, unpleasant, etc…)
CC, convince me why I would want/need to change the resolution just to see CC, when it’s just fine for every other page I visit…

Mine’s 1280 x 1024 and I hate it too. The changes to the home page of the forum are fine.

CC looks like it’s 6’6" tall and weighs about 140. I’m still po’d about the switch to the virtually unreadable, at least for this old guy, light blue “Fresh” format.

If they care as much about people’s opinions as they did when they changed to the fresh format I guess we are stuck with the anorexic version of CC  Oh well, I spend too much time on here anyway.

I guess they left all that space on the right so they could fill it with advertisements. I don’t like the knew format either. It creates the need for more scrolling and on long threads that is a pain the neck.
