Is the game over for MD School, 2015

Rightfully so - what a joke. Total abuse of power in my opinion. They do it because they can.

I agree. they’re taking advantage of a desperate situation. And, why $2k? What’s magical about that amount?

I think it’s their way of forcing those that they accept to either “poop or get off the pot”.

^^ For 4 DO campuses Touro has total about 600 students per class, if they have a yield of 40% that is about 1.8 Million Free money. BTW, I have confirmed with D that Touro NYC and CA are two different “schools”,just like Cal and UCLA one deposit will NOT cover the other…oh boy…

The other thing I cannot understand is why a medical school like Touro has to be so religious?

<a href=“Touro University California”>Touro University California;

I have nothing against Judaism, as almost all my long time NY/NJ friends are Jewish. I can see if they close school on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur but school is closed even on Tisha B’av?

Anyone has NY Medical College deposit amount? I do not subscribe MSAR.

And even we don’t take off all those jewish holidays…

Touro is Jewish. Asking why they have to be “so religious” would be like asking why G’town, Loyola, SLU and Creighton have to be so Catholic. They are what they are. Take it or leave it.

None of them try to convert anyone, but they’re not going to hide their faith affiliations under a bushel barrel.

" Take it or leave it"

I totally agree that to attend a School is a transaction that needs both parties consent and agreement.
However, with med school students are pressed academically as is when combining both fed and Jewish holidays, their learning experiences are more compressed. I checked the G’town calender, there are no additional “religious” holidays. OTOH, I am not sure how can the professors at Yeshiva can finish the fall semester while most of the school days are closed for holidays.

^much of the first 2 years of med school is lecture based and self learning. It is very conceivable that a med school can be closed, but the lectures/work is online for the student to do themselves. I can’t see the days closed as any hindrance to learning the material. I have heard from my daughter that some students NEVER went to class, just knew that they learned the material form the online lectures. Different learning ways, that’s all.

If duke was able to condense its preclinical curriculum to 1.5 years, touro students can handle a few extra days without classes for the jewish holidays.

Yep, its not like there are snow days!

This is very true. My son has said the same thing.
