Thank you! Good to have that expectation set!
Thank you! Any good info to share about the program or admissions?
He said that he expects 2200 pre business student to go but only 800 will make it to sophomore year kelley.
hey guys i just got the deans scholarship today
is this any indication that theres a chance ive got in or nah
No not really. Most out of state students received the Dean’s scholarships. Doesn’t mean anything relating to Kelley.
How did you set up this meeting with the admissions officer?
Congrats on your achievement.
My son received his Dean’s Scholarship in December and is still waiting on Kelley!
Edit
Reminder to everyone that doesn’t get in doesn’t need to be disappointed. Kelley is not only missing out, but I’m sure everyone will succeed elsewhere in other business schools! Best of luck!
I just wanted to share my perspective here. I have a current Kelley sophomore (finance major), OOS. Deciding on Kelley was easy for him. He’s happy where he’s at. it’s been a lot of work to find his way but he’s been very successful and made his way into the very top finance investment programs and workshop. He has an internship for junior year at a top bank in NY. All of it was 100% organic, his determination, grit and using the IU network of alums to learn about jobs and find his path. He was a DA but has plenty of friends who came through the SA route that have had very good opportunities as well through their own hard work and perseverance.
My advice is this.. don’t let SA route scare your kid. It’s very achievable just need to be focused (which they need to be to succeed regardless). Don’t let the ranking drive the decision. If they’re not in love with IU and Kelley, I wouldn’t do it. You have to want to be there. To take advantage of what IU and Kelley has to offer, you have be somewhat ready to hit the ground running. Time flies really fast and things come quickly.
Have a resume already before you come, so you’re ready to interview for business clubs, business frats and more. Look to get involved in 2-3 clubs. You need to want to take full advantage of the IU network and be ready to start making calls to chat as early as 2nd semester. Then starting to interview and practice interviewing 2nd semester.
Good luck to everyone! The fact that your kids are still waiting is perseverance. Nothing good comes easy and this is only the start of their next big adventure! Your kids will surprise you with what they can accomplish. Mine has more than I could ever imagine. As a parent, it can be hard to imagine our kids in a different, far and big place. On paper before IU my son might have looked pretty average academically. He was a focused athlete and without much involvement in school clubs. But he was very capable, with a good mix of skills, drive, curiosity and a healthy competitive mindset. Those have served him well in helping him persevere through what sometimes felt like a roller coaster ride in his freshman year finding his way.
It is an easy decision when it’s a DA Yes from Kelley, that’s why everyone is on this thread waiting patiently.
pretty low odds with a year wasted and 60k in expenses to find out kelley dreams are down in the gutter.. Kelley DA makes even more sense with this kind of projection stats. Prebusiness is only for those who are willing to take a huge risk or are fine with other IU majors.
Easy decision but maybe for the wrong reasons. That’s why i posted my perspective
I think this is really good insight, thanks for sharing!
Nah, I have two Hoosiers. All the right reasons. One was DA one wasn’t, both thriving. It’s definitely an easier decision being DA. And that’s what everyone is waiting patiently to hear this week
On the Kelley FB sites, yes you’ll read all the reasons to attend that are obvious but not a lot of depth. With 9? majors, multiple tracks or pathways in each major, you won’t get a lot of depth. You see a few criticisms but always anonymous. If posts are complaints that put the students, faculty or alums in a bad light, then they might get stopped and/or removed and for good reason. Complaints on these sites don’t have much effect at making change.
And yes there is a lot of Kelley pride among parents both in and out of state.
Good you’re doing research and I would look to other sources too including sites like Reddit and other reviews that are not affiliated with the school.
Thank you.
My kid declined Kelley; she didn’t find it to be a great fit academically.
It doesn’t concern me personally, but I find Kelley’s Auto DA as well as Standard Admit criteria to be bizarre. They’re looking at the most simplistic method to fill in their 2500 spots. I hope it’s allowed to be critical of their admission process at the very least .
Hopefully no one is doing college research via facebook and Reddit.
Many/most of the Kelley FB sites are NOT anonymous anymore. The admins have made the sites unavailable to posting or answering anonymous!!! Even so, they should be reviewed carefully.
my kid just got an email with rejection for petition a few min ago. GL to others.
Update 800/2200 last year so it might be different this year.
