@RlyOwl @sammyclaire23 I’m in the same boat as you both. I’m still holding out some hope, but at this point I just want to know either way. This waiting game has been so stressful lol.

I am also in the same predicament. I didn’t receive either emails. I was a dual enrollment student so I graduated college at 19. I didn’t have a job then and my parents was unemployed. And I had over 50 college credits when I applied for the scholarship. So, I’m not sure if they really needed more information on taxes and or my transcript. I’m still pretty hopeful, and I’m in Alabama too. I did contact the representatives at my school through email today and I’m waiting to hear back from her. Hopefully, I get some good news.

@LostUber I received both emails. Like midis said, schools have until 5/20, so don’t give up yet.
So I officially heard from my school that I was not a recipient… At least the wait is over. Congrats to all who received it and the rest of us who came this far!

…About the 75 recipients. Didn’t the College scholarship offer more scholarships this year? Does that mean that they stole from this pool of recipients? Hm… Oh well… glad this process is finally coming to its end. It has been a gift really, to learn to endure that kind of stress… but really looking forward to the end. Welcoming the days when I will think about other things… and summer’s here…yayyy

I’m one of those in the 1% hopefulness category that hasn’t heard from JKC since the original semi-finalist email. I wanted to know once and for all, so I emailed my advisor today to ask if she has heard anything. I received an “out of office” response and contacted the point person. I promptly received an “out of office” automated response from her contact person as well. I guess I’m just going to have to wait until the 20th :))
@RlyOwl @sammyclaire23 @anythinghere Feel your pain! also in same boat and have not heard a single thing since the semifinalist email. If the financial/transcript emails were markers of moving to next rounds, it is a little upsetting that we were dragged along this ride for so long. I am trying to stay positive though and hope to hear that someone here that hasn’t received emails gets awarded! @anythinghere attempted calling my advisor and he is out of office as well lol.

The notification went to my Honors advisor’s Spam folder. I called today because I was ready to end the suspense, and who knows when they would have found it if I hadn’t. The feeling of finally reaching what I’ve been struggling for so long towards was as sweet as I imagined. This is my second year applying for the JKCF, but my fourth in a CC, and next year would have been my fifth. Don’t give up, and keep growing and learning, and making the world better. Thanks everyone for sharing in the pain and frustration, and in the joy of this experience.

@midia I’m sorry. We’re probably in the same boat. I don’t think getting both e-mails means you’re an automatic winner. I just think this will make us tougher. Let nothing stand in your way.
I just called because I was confused on whether all advisors were being notified or not. The lady said that some advisors were notified and some weren’t… she said an email will go out on Wednesday letting people know of award status but she didn’t seem too reliable. She originally said that the students were being informed directly and not the advisors, but then I corrected her so she went to go double check with someone else and that’s when she said Wednesday.
Some advisors are on vacation or out of the office because the term has ended for most schools. This has certainly been an… Uhm… Unique year for the selection/notification process.

My CC didn’t have a specific advisor or set up for JKC; even if I did somehow win I don’t know who they would try to contact before me… So the 20th huh? It’ll be nice to just have it settled. Stay strong peeps.

@makxcv maybe a dean of university relations or dean of students or a staff member from the transfer center? someone would contact you. if you haven’t received a rejection email (and some students have) then you’re still in a contender.

Hello, fellow languishing semifinalists. Since I’ve entertained and distracted myself by reading your posts over the past many weeks, I thought I’d add my voice to the conversation now that it appears we are finally in the homestretch. My faculty contact has not gotten an email concerning any of our three semifinalists and I have received nothing myself since the semifinalist email. From everything I’ve read here, it sounds like that means I’m out, but I decided to call JKC today to try to get some clarity. In fact, I called twice several hours apart to see if I would get the same answers both times. Much to my surprise, I actually did. Both reps told me that not all faculty contacts/advisors have been notified, but that all notifications–both finalists and denials–will go out on Wednesday this week to the applicants. Since, @Isla45 also got this answer, maybe there’s something to it? They both also said that not receiving the emails for additional information does not mean that the person has already been eliminated. The second rep actually told me that JKC is still reviewing applications and making final selections. Whatever this all means or doesn’t mean, I’m cautiously optimistic that we will all know how the chips fall by Wednesday…I’ll still be shocked and amazed if I’m a finalist, but it will be so nice to finally have some closure. Best of luck to all of us who are still waiting and congratulations to those who have won so far!
@RlyOwl no, not all. i’ve spoken with students and scholars in touch with students who have received letters of rejection. but many are still waiting on news of their status.
In all of my social media searching, I have discovered several winners. In doing so, I have not yet seen any winners from California yet. Does anybody know of any California winners?
