Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship 2015-2016

Has anyone on this forum received a rejection?

Also – Is the JKC undergraduate scholarship more competitive than the transfer one? Contemplating applying next year if I don’t receive it.

@sammyclaire23 I am wondering the same thing. No one has posted about rejection emails here…kind of weird. Oh well… We hopefully have 48 more hours of this if the rumors are true. I am going to focus on hanging in there. I personally don’t believe the foundation is still considering anything, and don’t really believe anything coming from the receptionists either way. So I’m going on 100% hope here…hanging on that last thread…

@RlyOwl Let me know what ends up happening! I’m anxious to compare our situations.

@sammyclaire23 they’re both ultra selective (between 1.5% and 3%). you may want to reach out to JKC foundation to inquire whether they have changed their eligibility criteria. in the past, you only had one opportunity to apply. good luck y’all.

@RlyOwl I tend to agree with you. It seems like the phone reps have been pulling random answers out of a hat. I don’t put much hope into anything I was told today other than the Wednesday announcement–and I’m only cautiously optimistic there. We shall see in a matter of several hours I suppose…

Are any of the people who received both emails over 30? Very curious about that.

@Deviantdex I received both, but am in my late 20’s.

Good question! Anyone 30 or over receive both emails??

@Deviantdex Im 30 and received nothing

Mid 30s with 3 kids.

@CalculonZoidberg you received both emails?

@LitMajor1107 @CalculonZoidberg received both emails, very interesting. What now Watson? Lol. I guess we wait to see.

@Deviantdex Did you receive both emails?

@RlyOwl I did not, so it’s looking pretty grim for me. I guess we will find out this week. I had a far reaching theory that the first email was for those under thirty needing parent’s financials, and not sure what I was thinking for the second lol. Just holding out hope I guess.

This sucks. I got accepted to both of the schools I applied to, and cost of attendance for both is 70k+. The one I really want to go to is 80+ (Ivy League) but my second choice offers a higher financial package(and a pretty good scholarship). It really sucks to not be able to go my top choice due to finances. Really does. Can’t wait for tomorrow for this to end.

@RlyOwl – I’m in a similar situation! I’ve accepted the fact that I’ll have to take out student loans, but it’s a tough pill to swallow.

@RlyOwl I really hope you (and everyone) win, so that you could afford it. I’m really lucky in the sense that my only option for a University (I’m a dad with a child in high school so I can’t choose another school) isn’t crazy expensive. I was just hoping to not work a ton of hours, so that I could focus on both school and my kids. Either way, I know it will all work. I have been through way worse lol.

I just called. We will know FOR SURE tomorrow if we’ve won or not.

I hope enough people called them this year, that next year the process will change and they will be in more communication with the contestants, and notify non-finalists much sooner.

Just to add another witness, I called yesterday and they said we will know on Wednesday if we have won or not. The wait is almost over…hopefully
