hilarious if someone posted they called and they said it would be in the next couple of weeks, as has been pattern.
I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to hear I was rejected this badly… Like get on with it already reject me!!.. >:) @-)

Why would they tell campus reps that they have until May 20 to do the surprising if they are just going to tell us on the 18th?? JKCF, get it together!
Hey, all. I called also at 4:30pm EST. I spoke with a very nice representative who said that they will begin sending out the mass email notifications tomorrow. She made sure that she said BEGIN and that not everyone may be notified tomorrow.
At least their is a Transfer Scholarship winner on social media (JCK Instagram) https://www.instagram.com/p/BFhjN_wxQrJ/?taken-by=thejkcf
If the website doesn’t work please check JCK Instagram
I guess more students that won the JCK undergraduate transfer scholarship are being recognized on the JCK social media (Twitter, FB, and Instagram) Congratulation to all!!!
@peoplemustknow I hear you on that. I’m an ivy accept that got my tuition largely covered. I want this scholarship to help the people who need it the most for sure. I stated earlier that I still hoped to get it for a couple of reasons. I don’t have everything covered, though it’s affordable, and I am still pretty nervous about being able to afford tax payments (self-employed), hospital bills (asthma), car insurance, food costs, incidental costs, books, etc etc. I don’t have any family nearby or anything so it’s a bit nerve-wracking to me, and I don’t want to screw up my opportunity. I believe JKC also pays for internship opportunities that I wouldn’t have access to otherwise.
Ultimately, I want the scholarship to go to those who really need it too. Absolutely. And I won’t be at all upset when I don’t get it and all these deserving people that need it do get it. But if I were to win (haven’t heard anything, so I probably didn’t), I would accept it. Not for the prestige, but for the opportunity to 100% engage in my academics rather than worrying so much about money, take internship opportunities and have a chance to get a good graduate scholarship as well. Also, to be able to meet and work with all of the other incredible scholars. I wouldn’t blame anyone for doing the same. Also I’m not sure if they’d actually give it to someone else? They wouldn’t give you as much money and that extra money would go to scholars in the future. It’d be interesting to know if they did let you give it up for someone else.
I respect you if you disagree, just wanted to give my side of that
Also, my condolences that you didn’t make it. I am 99.8% sure I didn’t either. I hope everything works out for your out of state friend.
I have been following this for months now and am soooooo incredibly happy to announce that me and another student at my school have received the scholarship today!! It was an absolutely incredible experience. Continue with faith friends! They are still announcing!
@peoplemustknow looks like you are wrong in stating that those who have not heard anything are out of the running… congrats @lebronisking23!!! Hope continues on… !!!
@lebronisking23 congratulations! Do you know when your advisor was notified, and did you both receive both emails?
Advisor was notified today at 130 and yes we both had both of the emails.
if i do make it to virginia this year (i have a hectic summer schedule), i’ll kiss you all on your foreheads, wet sloppy breathe-y kisses, the kind that make people cringe. it will be gross and wonderful. and when you’re lost in one of the labyrinthine corridors of the convention center, i will be there to get lost with you. congratulations to award recipients.
and again, my deepest sympathies to scholars that were not selected for the award this cycle. i encourage you all to trudge on, knowing that we all support you in your struggle. the JKC foundation will continue to be leading advocates in higher education for our income groups and continue to urge institutions to make college affordable and attainable for those of us beleaguered by financial difficulty. award or no award, you are fundamentally worth an education that prepares you to achieve better life outcomes.
@peoplemust No offense taken. I am just trying to keep things positive here… your sentence “Now, to everyone that is still waiting on hearing to see if they are possible finalist, if you have not received any information yet, you are not a winner and I’m sorry” seemed pretty direct and can lead people to lose a lot of hope, which I think is pretty unfair. They obviously are still making announcements per @lebronisking23 last post.
@peoplemustknow at any rate I was not trying to attack your post, it was more of a lighthearted “you are wrong… hope continues” not an aggressive “you are wrong!” think things are easily misconstrued over the internet.
@optimisticky thank you for all your contributions on this thread! It definitely has been a rough ride! I hope everyone still awaiting a response from JKC the best of luck! Hopefully tomorrow the pains of anticipation will be gone!
It’s an honor and privilege to report that I’ll be seeing you all in Virginia!
I received both emails, and my advisors were informed this morning through email.
My debt to humanity has increased ten-fold, and I will be sure not to disappoint. I’m looking forward to meeting other ambitious and compassionate individuals. Back to work forging a better future for ourselves and everyone on Earth. (and in the future, off Earth!)
Congratulations!
@lebronisking23 congrats! What state are you in?
@LitMajor1107 Arizona! Thanks!
@Quietlybear what state are you in? Are any winners from California yet?
Hey all, just to verify, am I the only student who received both emails and did not get selected? I’m just trying to understand what happened.
I personally think it has to do with the schools I’ve been accepted to so far. The school I listed as my top choice is forcing me to take out $10k in loans out of $60k. My absolute top choices I haven’t heard from yet come out in June… part of me feels like I didn’t get it because of the “aid” I was offered so far from the ones I’ve been accepted to.
