@kb199977 thank you for the kind words! Human trafficking is something that I think needs a LOT of attention, thus it became my passion. The women and girls I have worked with the past couple years have absolutely blown my mind. Many of them, I think, are smarter than myself. They just weren’t as able to escape. So, I think my work here is simply to do them justice using whatever privilege I am blessed with. It means a lot to me to have your support.
I also support you 100%!! I’m incredibly inspired that you hope to work with immigration policy. It’s profoundly important, and permeates many other issues of our time. I have no doubt you will become an amazing advocate! I’m not an expert on immigration by any means, and I’m sure you could teach me a thing or two, but I am so happy to hear that other semifinalists are paying attention to these issues. Please let me know what you hear back.
I’d also be really interested to hear your ideas on immigration policy if you feel like sharing
Hi Guys, quick question, I was checking last year thread, and find out that they were required to submit their tax return documents through the College Board IDOC platform, I am not aware if this applies to us as well, as the JCKF did not mention that in their email.
I’ve been quiet on this thread but have been reading for some time. You all are so great! I’m commenting now to answer you about the IDOC because I think I can be a bit helpful. I received an email a couple of days ago from the JCKF that my additional requirements and CSS Profile were completed. I then received an email today from the College Board that I should complete the IDOC. This had me confused.
I decided to send an email to the JKCF immediately since the deadline was at 5:00 pm today and I got the email at around 4:00 pm or so. I asked them if they wanted me to do the IDOC. They said yes. I just submitted the documents and it will take a couple of days to process, so says the website.
I think if you received an email specifically from the College Board to send the IDOC then you should. If not, it appears that you don’t have to. I say that because there’s a specific code in the College Board email in order to do the IDOC.
If you have any inquiries or concerns I suggest emailing them or calling. They are super nice and respond quite fast.
@FortunateFlorida 1. I like your profile pic and 2. I got that college board IDOC email like an hour before the deadline too. I was in class and couldn’t do anything. I just emailed them right now because I saw that JKCF was requesting those documents for IDOC. It would be unfair I were to be penalized by this even though I only received the email an hour before the deadline AND while I was in class.
I got an email from the college board too. I signed in to see who was requesting more documents and it was one of the colleges I’m applying to. I didn’t see JKCF listed so I thought they didn’t need it. I guess I’ll email them tomorrow and find out. Does anyone else have any more info?
Thank you @FortunateFlorida I also received that email from the College Board IDOC asking me to upload tax return documents for the JKCF, it was at 4:00 sharp.
I logged in earlier today and saw that the JKCF was requesting additional documents to complete the IDOC. In keeping with my atrocious school e-mail, I have received no emails. I uploaded all documents, but I have no parental information to upload so I hope that doesn’t hurt me.
Since we all found out about the IDOC at roughly the same time, this timing shouldn’t negatively impact any of our standings. I think the original deadline was for the initial CSS profile, not the IDOC. I have a hunch they waited until all the CSS profiles were in to request the IDOC documents. Just get them in as soon as you can and we will see!
Hi guys I hope everyone is doing well. I emailed the foundation today asking about the IDOC. They assured me that it is not a part of the Feb 19 deadline. As long as you submitted the CSS profile and additional documents or transcripts by the deadline you should be fine.
@philippekaa and @iggywiggly YAY! congrats y’all. I wish we would all be on the same academic team thing so we could have met in person would have been so cool
I also made it to my PTK All-State Academic Team. The rewards for this vary based on state but I wanted to share something. If there isn’t a scholarship from an in state university you want to go. The director of the program in your state, who sent you the congratulations letter, can contact that university and ask them to offer one.
This worked for me, while a university may not want to open it up to every winner(some states have hundreds) on a case by case unpublished basis they were very generous. Have the state director enquire though because it involves professional courtesy between organizations.
