Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship 2020

@Brobro111222333 That’s a really healthy way to look at it! Proud of you!!

Congratulations guys that’s great news! I didn’t apply to any of the PTK scholarships but I’m proud of you all.

Congrats @iggywiggly @Brobro111222333 @spicymustard @kb199977 I am really happy for all of you guys. This is just the beginning, of many to come. Any recognition you get is a great testimony of the great future awaiting you ahead. I was an All State and All USA academic team, New Century pathway, Hites, and Pearson scholar last year. I can’t wait to cheering you on stage if you coming to the Catalyst.

@Brobro111222333 Honestly I would contact the admissions department of your safety school and tell them you are an ALL-USA winner. There are only 20 students in the country nominated. Worst they can say is no. If you talk in person, ask to speak with someone who can reverse a denial. Even if you have to make an appointment to call them.

I am having a battle with the college that I’ve had my eye on for my entire time in community college. They want me to pay $14,000+ per year, regardless of whatever accomplishments I have (or how long I spent on their essay).

The fact that you wont take no for an answer will work in your favor. Who actually contacts a school after a rejection and tells them “Yes, You want me!”

If you need more ammo the president of your college was contacted about your nomination. Professionally ask your president to contact the college on your behalf.

Everyone who is a semi-finalist leverage your potential. Do not take no for an answer. We are not your average college students. We know adversity and challenge. This is what has brought us so far. Be more than a number on a piece paper.

The only thing written in stone, is stone.

Did any of y’all win PTK Hites? Or have they not been announced yet?

Damn @spicymustard can you be my permanent hype-man from now on? You are so right. Thank you!!

Did any F-1 students have an interview?

@positivelog not sure but did you have an interview?

By the way, I had my interview yesterday y’all. It was super easy going and my interviewer was so friendly. They really just want to get to know you more and overall it’s not a scary type of interview where there are right or wrong answers. You won’t be left wondering if you did good or not, they literally just want to get to know you and your college plans.

@positivelog Cant say for everyone, but I didn’t.

@kb199977 Thanks for the update!

Also, I think Hites are announced after the others.

Congrats to all who won the PTK scholarships. You all deserved it…

By the way, anyone know what the next phase of the scholarship selection is, after the interview? Or we just have to sit tight and wait until the final results are out in April?

@Philippekaa i asked my interviewer the same question and they told me that all we do is wait for final decisions now!

Hites announcements just went out! Check your email.

@Philippekaa I was told in my interview that this is the last phase until the announcements, so we just sit tight until April ???

Hello every one,
For the students who pass their interview, would you post some examples of the questions you have been asked?

The interview isn’t a right or wrong answer kind. They simply want to get to know you. From my interpretation of the interview, it will not have a positive or negative effect on if you get the scholarship.

It is would be helpful to know example of expected questions
Thank you so much!

Honestly it didn’t feel like an interview, it was more like a casual chat. They asked a few questions, one was about college plans ( basically if college choice is still the same as what you have on the application), another question was about how you think their academic advisors would be able to help you when you transfer to a 4 year university. The rest of the conversation wasn’t really a question and answer kind of thing. They also give you the opportunity to ask them any questions.
