It’s wrong for me to log into my son’s portal while he’s at school and practice… It’s wrong for me to log into my son’s portal while he’s at school and practice… It’s wrong for me to log into my son’s portal while he’s at school and practice… It’s wrong for me to log into my son’s portal while he’s at school and practice…

I figure the more I say it the hopefully easier it will be for me to ignore the fact that I could know RIGHT NOW if I wanted to…

My daughter was accepted. Technically doesn’t say the major. They don’t have the major she really wants which is Neuroscience so she applied for Biology since they had a concentration in Neuroscience. We will go to the open house and see.

I was lucky. My daughter had exams today so only 1/2 day of school or I would have been in your position!

S accepted OOS. No email though. I just told him to look in the portal because of all the activity here. Must say that it was the most underwhelming ā€œadmitā€ screen we have seen so far…not even digital confetti.

you got this!
what time will he be home and what can you do to stay busy until then?
I felt this way last month while waiting for him to be home to find out about UT Knoxville. It was torture. Took my dog for the longest walk ever. That poor pup was tired!

So far today only 2 of us have reported deferrals. The deferral letter stated that of the 31K EA applications, 25% were being reconsidered in the Regular Decision process. I thought I read on the JMU website that typically ~30% are accepted as part of Early Action and the rest either deferred or possibly denied. Does anyone know what the Early Action acceptance rate was for this year? I’m thinking it may be higher than 30%. Otherwise that would mean 30% admitted, 25% deferred and 45% denied?

What’s really funny, is he might actually get home before me today… but he forgets where to look to find his portal log in information (it’s a google doc in his drive, but somehow, every time he forgets what it’s called and can’t find it without asking me). And I’m not only in the office today instead of at home, but ALSO going to a happy hour for a colleague who is retiring. So I’m going to be home late-ish. We’ll see if he can figure it out before I get there!

I wouldn’t expect the official EA acceptance rate for this year to be available for a while.

If 31,000 applied EA this year, and the unofficial total application number is 44,000, that means 70% of all students applied EA.

If 25% are being reconsidered in RD(7,750) that means the total applications being considered in RD is roughly 21,000.

I am having trouble figuring out where to look! Can someone post a link. I have my son’s sign in info.

NM. It worked on my phone. Son is in!

Go for it!

Thanks. Any advice for those that are deferred? Should my son reach out to the assigned admissions counselor for our region and let him know that JMU is top of his list? His 1st semester is over next week and his grades are strong. If he sends in his grades will they be considered as part of the regular admission review?

I would definitely reach out to the AO and let them know it’s his first choice. I honestly don’t know if they consider additional academic information, but it’s worth asking them about it.
