What are some easy GEs and teachers that will give u a guarantee A!??!

Chickenboi8008

what is your major ? it would be so ironic if i actually already met you. hahahaah are you doing math right now? cause with my late enrollment window i’m gonna have to skip on math this quarter. =(

Jinks,
I would just look up GE classes that you are interested in and then go to ratemyprofessors.com. Its very time consuming but with luck you will find some good/easy teachers.

brandoiscool: aerospace. ok im gonna take a shot and ask r u marvin???

The oral interview after a language placement exam, is it an oral test in the language or is it just a regular interview?

Ah! Sorry for the late responses everyone! I’m really busy now that it’s the last two weeks of school.

S1e3pyhead:
I’ve never taken o-chem, but I’m very sure they care. I took g-chem lab. It pretty much works the same way. You have specific sections and TAs. The grading is done by section too, so if you don’t go to yours, then it won’t work out for them.

Chickenboi8008:
It’s the end of the week. I’m pretty sure you already took the lab practical so yea…sorry! If you’re taking it tomorrow, it’s basically a dumbed down version of a few of your labs. You’ll also have some questions. I took it two years ago, and it was the first time there was a practical so it’s totally different now!

BrandoIsCool:
You’ll be fine. You can take chem. 1LE separately. My friends are doing it right now. If you have problems, you just need an authorization code. You can surpass anything in this school as long as you talk to your counselors and have a reasonable reason.

Jinks:
Go search on ratemyprofessor for easy GEs! The easiest ones I’ve heard of are transnational gangs and anthropology with Douglas. Oh and social science 3A or something like that.

Yoyoboy:
Sorry I’m not sure since I opted for no-background track. I think it’s just a regular interview. I don’t remember it being an actual oral exam.

THANKS chickenboi and Jason, I talked to my adviser about that.

chickenboi, ARHHHGGHG yeah its me. There are only 3 ppl that have the same major during the summer program. And there’s one person I don’t think it is. Your name either starts with P or D ?

Any chance i’ll get in with these stats?

Stats:
Weighted: 3.82
Unweighted: 3.55
UC GPA: between 3.6 and 3.7 (bad sophmore year, big improvement junior year)
Sat: Highest Single/Combined: 2000
Sat2 Bio: 770
Sat2 History: 650
AP/H- 6 completed/4 in progress
10 years of Lab Science
Extracurriculars:
Piano: 7 years
Vocal: 1 year
Hospital Volunteer:2 years/4hrs per week
Church Charity Events: Holidays
Track and Field: 2 years (stopped because of hip injury)
Volleyball (School and Private League): 2 years (stopped because of hip injury)
Leadership: 1 year
Internship Experience: 1 summer

1st-choice major: biology alternate: biomedical engineering: premed (im starting to think that was a foolish choice)

@Kawaii24 this is not a chance thread. But ur stats look fine to me.

UCI Questions

-I went to walk in tutoring for bio student affairs and the counselors suck, they provide no advice on what to take and what not take and why. Is this true for all counselors or did i get unlucky? They couldnt give me definate answers and i left more confused than before counseling.

-Second questions is that do Honor classes help your GPA? Do they look good for post graduate schools? And are they worth it? Cause i just found out that i COULD have taken Chem H2A but i took Chem 1B instead…cause counselors suck. : (
But later i found out that chem 1A-B-C series is better for MCAT. True!??!!?

-Also is taking classes in summer easier or harder. I am hearing mix responses. Planning on taking Physics 3C and 3LC in summer.

brando: it starts with a D
i think u can figure out the other letter haha

-I had another question:
During the summer do pre reqs for courses go away.

Does anyone know about the Business Information Management course at UCI?

jinks: they never go away…

So on my Student Access Course Order Transcript page it says I have 71.5 Quarter Units completed (it doesn’t list my just completed Fall 2008 classes, just my AP Credits). I don’t think that is right, because there is no way I got that much AP Credit. Maybe Quarter Units means something different then just units? Just wondering…

AP EUROPEAN HIS 05/06
AP STATISTICS 05/06
AP PSYCHOLOGY 05/07
AP U.S. HISTORY 05/07
AP ENGLISH LANG 05/07
AP BIOLOGY 05/08
AP ENGLISH LIT 05/08
AP GOVT & POL:U 05/08
AP ART HISTORY 05/08
SADDLEBACK COL 4 TERM(S) TO 12/05

Total: 71.5

That’s completely normal. You get 4 or 8 units depending on the AP (which makes sense because an AP can be covered in about 2 quarters of work). And you’re community college courses were probably on the semester system. 1 semester unit = 1.5 quarter units.

Hi guys,
I had a question regarding the webreg adjustment period enrollment. Today marked the end of the adjustment period and people who did not pay there fees by monday were dropped from their classes. However, I tried logging onto the system at 06:30 but was only able to do so at 06:35 due to a busy server, and I was unable to adjust anything due to the slow server until two hours later. As a result, a class that I wanted to get into (Bio 98) filled up. I am still pretty bummed out about it but oh well.

I was wondering do the schools drop people after the final grades are released. For instance, completion of Bio 97 and co-enrollment in Chemistry 51 B are pre and co-requistes for this class. Will the school look at people who did not pass this class and drop them from Bio 98? If so, when will this usually take place?

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

Sorry to hear that, and although it’s likely that the system will drop students who have not met the requirements, there is an alternative to getting into the class you want: Talk to the professor(s) when the Winter quarter starts.

They can sign this “red card” that you provide to them and return to the registrar which automatically enrolls you into that course regardless of the restrictions (most of them at least) that was placed against you. Talk to the professor first and be sure to attend his/her lectures to let him/her know you have interest in the course so you have a higher chance of getting that card signed.

hey i was wondering how many units are needed to graduate from uci??
because on my transcript it said that i have 44 units and I am a freshman. I am an electrical engineering major and I wanted to complete my major earlier than 4 years.
do u guys think its possible?

For Jinks, I have heard the bio counselors are *******s in general. Try asking the peer academics advisors there…they should be more straight up with you and tell you which classes are particularly tough and which ones aren’t. And for summer prereqs, they actually never go away but fact that is the school doesn’t really check up on them either. Obviously, people will take advantage of that like they take 98 when they didn’t have 97 done. I know some people who have done that. I have never taken the honors chem courses so I don’t know much about them except for honors gchem, you get weird professors like Shaka.

To rxl95, the school of bio sci will drop you from 98 if you failed to satisfy the prereqs for bio 98. So if you fail 97 or chem 51A (thus will get dropped from 51B also), bio sci will drop you from 98 like a week before school starts. I could have swear bio sci (just like chem) does not sign add/drop cards so that they can stop people who have not met prereqs from enrolling in the class.

Irviner, my response was based on my experience in physics and mathematics courses. However, it may indeed be different for biology courses as per your response.

Akashanksta, you need AT LEAST 180 credits to graduate, along with having to complete all the required coursework and general requirements. It’s possible.

Hmm…I never knew you could do that for physics, but then again, I never try to take a specific physics class before satisfying the prereqs. So you saying I could have manipulate the system by taking 7D w/o 7B? If so…damn, I should have done that.

And if you guys have questions on chem 51 series, ask away. I will try to help and provide study tips.
