nope but it can rock backwards

Oh nice

Thanks for answering all my Q’s ^___^

OMG, my thread is back! Hi everyone =]. Maybe I’ll post for a month again.

What happens when you don’t get into your desired major Freshman year? Like Nursing for example, it’s extremely competitive. My GPA and Extracurricular activities are pretty much nothing in comparison to those who did manage to get into the Nursing major. Would it be better to apply for UCI with an “Undeclared” major or what?

If you don’t get in as Nursing Major, I do believe that UCI looks at the second choice major you listed.

If you get admitted with your second choice major, what process do you have to go through in order to change it? Like how long does it take, what do you have to do, etc.

Thanks by the way

hi, i’m currently a biomedical engineering major but i’m thinking about switching into nursing. i know its quite competitive, but hopefully i’ll be able to transfer sophomore year. the requirements state that to do so, i need to take bio 93 & chem 1A-B-C, 1LB-LC. i’m currently enrolled in the chem series, but not bio 93. is it possible to take bio 93 in the winter/spring quarters?

If you get admitted with your second choice major, what process do you have to go through in order to change it? Like how long does it take, what do you have to do, etc.

You can change it at orientation. I think that orientation is over, so the next best thing to do is to wait until the start of the quarter and talk/email your academic adviser (this is the person that told you what classes to enroll in at orientation, he/she should’ve given you her contact info).Since you are only a first year, this is not a big concern since you will be taking GE’s for most of the first year. I do suggest you visit the adviser, ASAP, esp. if you are in engineering (which has the most requirements). Declaring your major in the first year is no big deal, if you can’t get it changed the best thing to do would be to look at the general catalog and sign up for the classes the fulfill the requirements for your major.

is it possible to take bio 93 in the winter/spring quarters?

I’m not sure, but I believe the answer is ‘no’. My previous roommate was a bio major and mentioned something about taking the bio in sequence–starting with the fall 93 and then followed by the other classes.

Last year, Bio 93 wasn’t offered in winter or spring. If you have anymore schedule related questions go to the following website and check the history of classes. This will help a lot:

hey jason, nice thread btw.
Currently an ‘undeclared major’, registered for Uni studies, MGMT 6 (intro to business), math 2a, and writing 39b.

Trying to get back into business administraton, so prereq classes i need to take include econ 20a and MGMT 10. And I realize that all the spops are done, and there are spots left in econ 20a and MGMT 10.

Even though the restrictions for these classes are for majors only, if I can talk with the professor and perhaps get permission to take the class, will his/her approval override the class restriction?

thanks for your time

Cheers, BrandoIsCool :)

Here’s an excerpt from WebSOC:
“Due to the volume of majors, enrollment in some School of Social Sciences courses will be restricted to School or majors only until the last enrollment window opens.”

The section for non-majors are full already, so everyone else will be trying to get in. The best way is to wait until they lift that restriction. If for some reason they don’t, come early with a mostly filled add/drop card which is found in the Aldrich Hall. Also, stalk the professor on the web so you know who to run to when you see him, haha.

I just logged onto Webreg and found this:

Webreg will be unavailable from the fee deadline, SEP 15 at 05:00pm,
until the Enrollment Adjustment Period, SEP 18 at 12:00pm.

This should give you the time frame you need to know.

What is the average GPA and SAT scores for incoming UCI nursing undergraduates?

thanks jason, hopefully i’ll be able to find a space on sept 18 then

hi jason! Would you suggest getting new or used books? I’m debating the pros and cons and can’t come to a right answer.

You should get used books and try to get them from amazon or ebay because they’re much cheaper than the bookstore.

Hmmm alright thanks. :]
but for used books, do most of them have writing in them like notes and highlighted stuff? and is the condition fairly decent?

DjxRave

It varies a lot. Books are not worth always buying new unless they are only a little more expensive than the cheapest used price you can find. Just make sure you don’t use media mail…

Hey guys if I were to order something online while living at UC Irvine, would I be able to have it shipped to my dorm?
