Aloha Future LEDA Scholars,

Please feel free to post any help you need in this forum. I am a scholar from this year’s cohort, so I’ve been to things that you will soon go through. Taking the initiative to apply is a huge step to a great future. You are lucky that the program will be accepting more scholars this year. Don’t hesitate: log-in, fill-out, upload, then submit! You never know that in a few month, your feet will be standing in Princeton’s ground. You’ve got what it takes to be a LEDA Scholar. Wishing you all the Best! #LEDA4lyfe

Don’t know how legit these people are…

Aloha @vvumbo,

Typical Response to LEDA! In fact, many of my fellow scholars during the summer had the same feeling as yours. Yes, LEDA may sound “too good to be true” but we are 1000000% legit. Here are some of the links that proves LEDA’s legitimacy: http://www.ledascholars.org
<a href=“Opening the Door for Low-Income Students to Overcome 'Aristocracy' of Higher Ed - YouTube”>Opening the Door for Low-Income Students to Overcome 'Aristocracy' of Higher Ed - YouTube;

I hope these are adequate to prove LEDA’s legitimacy. Just keep on posting here if you are considering the program; my cohort mates and I are willing to help.

Lol I’m am a cohort 10 LEDA scholar and I assure you this program is real and it’s amazing.

Time is ticking. If you are reading this right now, your chances of getting into LEDA are slowing decreasing. At this very moment, while you are reading this, there are hundreds of other students who have had a month’s worth of time to draft and revise their application essays and who have had a month’s worth of time to get the best letter of recommendation possible. But on the other hand, Cohort 11 will be about two-thirds larger than previous years, so your chances of getting in increases about maybe 3%. Then again, the acceptance rate for getting into LEDA is still under 10%, perhaps even under 5%. And out of the many applicants who applied for LEDA, the 61 who were accepted were in the top 5% of their graduating class. So if you are not within the top 5%, let alone the top 10% of your graduating class, and you have not even started the application yet a month after it opened, leaving a little more than a month left, your chances of getting into the program is fading. And if you are not committed to any extra-curricular activities or volunteer or have an extraordinary academic record, your chances of getting in are diminishing even further. And if after you have read all of this and you belong to the top 10% and you have various commitments, there are people who have the same or even better qualifications, and they have had one month’s worth of precious time to work on the application. Does this mean that if you do not have some of the characteristics that I mentioned or that if you start the application right now, you will absolutely not get in? No. This just means that you will have to work harder and be more resourceful. And remember, if you get a notification of acceptance, you are only getting accepted into the first round of admission. There are three rounds of admissions to weed out those who do not truly want to be in the program. Some advice for prospective scholars: Be as cutthroat as you want at your own risk. Be as kind as you want at your own risk. Be as lazy as you want at your own risk. Be as proactive as you want at your own risk. It is your choice whether or not you tell your peers about this program, which may either increase or decrease your competition. It is your choice whether or not you give misinformation to other, which may decrease your competition but increase animosity. It is your choice whether or not you choose to apply to this program; you can either have a chance at learning how to get into the ivy leagues and other highly selective colleges for free and developing a community and creating memories with other scholars, or you can blow this program off and do whatever you would like with your time, which may be more productive and more useful and more important in the long run. Your choice. Time is ticking.

Hello, I am interested in becoming a LEDA Scholar… What should I do?

Aloha @YouGotNoAnswers‌,

Make an account in LEDA’s fluid review account located in LEDA’s account. Look to the Admission tab, and look for the link for the application. Good Luck! How did you learn this amazing program? Wow, you are so interested, and you even used our group picture as your profile! Good one!

The Asian guy makes it seem pretty uptight, are all people like that? Also that’s the whole summer of just more school. Is there a stipend for going?

I can safely assume they are all not like that. I may or may not have been a LEDA scholar last year but I know L***s *e can seem a bit uptight with his approach but don’t worry it’s just him being satirical. I don’t know how I know this, but there isn’t a stipend for going. However, they pay for your room, food, college tours, and also the special… cant spill the beans for you it’s worth more than you could get paid for.

@vvumbo‌ trust me, this summer will change your life if you apply. Don’t think of it as more school because it isn’t. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity

When it says to list awards and scholarships, do we actually list it or do we write it in paragraph form? Also by awards, do they mean only awards given through scholarships or awards such as top 5%, 5th place in state, etc?

There is a section where you list tzhem individually, then there is space to give descriptions, which is the most important. And awards can pertain to anything which may boost your application. Of course there is such a thing as level of appropriateness which may better portray you.

Hello! I’m currently applying to LEDA for this Summer and was just wondering what the ideal GPA (weighted and unweighted) and the amount of extracurriculars needed to be accepted into LEDA? Also if you could give me any tips for the two personal statements that be great! Thanks

@tofabforyou , truly there is no ideal gpa. To be competitive, the higher your gpa, the better. However, gpa isnt the sole detetmining factor. A gpa slightly below a 4.0 can be supplemented with extracurriculars, writing, and recommendation. However, leda tends tolook for students within the top 10% of their graduating class. With extracuriculars, its not about the bucketlist, but about dedication and commitment and passion. 3 dedicated and committed extracurriculars look much more favorable than 12 casual curriculars. With your essay, show and tell. There should be more showing than telling. If a four year old asks why to every statement that you write, there should be a definite answer as to why. Omit unnecessary details and be true to yourself when answer. There is nothing not important, but there is such a thing as relevancy. Answer the question thorougly and completely. And if possible, have several teachers proofread; there will be revisions. And be unique. There are hundreds of applicants with similar stories, but how you portray yourself will give you an advantage.

Okay thank you so much! LEDA sounds like an amazing program! Do they give you much freedom? Could you leave the campus on your own? What was your typical day/week at LEDA like?

@tofabforyou, while there is structure for the typical day, there is a lot of freedom. Beyond the two blocks of classes roughly around 8 to 11 and 12-5, you are free to explore the campus and to visit the neighboring shops. Of course there are boundaries and restrictions with curfew, but other than that, you are pretty much free to do as you please within the guidelines provided by LEDA. A typical day is breakfast, class, lunch, class, dinner, free time, in dorm.curfew, and in room.curfew.

@TheCynicalAsian LEDA sounds like an awesome program !'ll definitely be sending my application in very soon! Fingers Crossed I get accepted into the second round :)
