This has to be one of the most exciting things I’ve ever applied to. I’m really excited! When do you guys start choosing? And how likely is it that you get chosen if your GPA is less than a 4.0 (like a 3.5) if your family isn’t at the $55,000 average?

Aloha @eraofcat, I think our average GPA is 3.2, and your income will be analyzed thoroughly (every factors will be considered like members in your family and payments). It’s a holistic review! Good Luck, and Congratulations! Notification comes on Mid-Jan to Mid-Feb (I think).

Hi, I just applied. My GPA is a 4.0 and I have participated in several research projects for my state colleges. I was wondering if my SAT scores be a boost to my application: 700 R 700 M 650 W (Writing is low, but no one really cares about writing). Do you think I have a good chance even if I don’t have much community service?

@kjulep18 Hi! Is the average GPA of 3.2 weighted or unweighted? Just curious!

It’s so encouraging, yet not at the same time! Just gotta keep hope alive, lol.

And that’s reassuring, @kjulep18. The video, the FAQ and my email correspondences made it seem like everyone had a 4.0 sigh of relief

And that’s a good question, @vvumbo. It’s a goal, but I’m so busy

@vvumbo: Keep this in mind: Community Service hours are just numbers; it is your passion that LEDA is really looking for: being an inspiration to others is just as effective as having hundred of hours! I can tell you are a great student, you have what it takes to be a LEDA scholar! Great Job!

@tofabforyou: I don’t really know, but it is more likely to be weighted. Always remember: every applicants’ GPA is not only measured by how high it is, but also the classes that took you to that GPA! Great Job to you as well!

I really hope for the best for you guys! Don’t forget to remind us when you guys get accepted!

I’m so close to submitting my application! I just have to add some things to my essay. I’m so excited for this program! Hopefully myself and everyone else here will be accepted

@tofabforyou
I think the deadline has passed D:!

@Newdle The deadline hasn’t passed; it was extended to Dec. 5th!

Seeing all of this makes me miss this past summer. You guys will surely get in. @vvumbo @tofabforyou @eraofcat

When will we know who gets chosen? @Kjulep18 @TheCynicalAsian

@eraofcat: Notifications for admittance into the second round start around mid January/early February. Notifications are rolling, so some applicants may receive their notifications earlier while some may receive notifications later on.

One more month away @@…

Hi all, I also applied to be in the 2015 cohort! Hoping for some good news concerning round 2 soon
Do you guys think that the school profile will be immensely important when they select who is going to be in the cohort? I go to a typical suburban high school in Southern California, it’s not as poor as the inner-city LA schools are, but it certainly isn’t rich. I’m definitely on the lower end of the financial spectrum (<20K income, no property, single parent, eligible for free lunch, etc) but I’m worried that my “middle-class” high school might be a turn off on my application. Any thoughts?

Hello all, I also signed up for this program and I hope we all get in!

@hilobanana the school profile has no impact until you get into cohort 11. until then, don’t worry about it. :)

that’s certainly reassuring! Thanks a ton @notamontague :)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has received an e-mail stating they made it to part 2?
@sonicmeta I don’t think anybody else has. They just sent one confirming they’re in the process of reviewing them.
I’m so nervous. I can’t wait to hear about part 2. One question: Is gpa more important than income? I think I meet all the requirement for gpa and extracurricular activities, but my mother is more of middle class than low class.
