<p>There is a definitely a helicopter waiting in the back garden of Kensington Palace. I saw it come down on my trip to Wholefoods (because that’s the kind of exciting life I lead…). No panicked car journey to hospital for Kate.</p>
<p>It’s been really hot for days (exceptionally unusual for England). Poor Kate. I am sure she just wants it all to be over. The Queen has complained that she wants the baby to be born before she goes on holiday.</p>

<p>I’m confused, ziggi. You’re now saying 3 names isn’t pompous, and obviously names like George and Charles don’t have a lot of letters and aren’t pompous. I’m missing the point of your comment that they must obviously pick pompous names. </p>
<p>People in, shall we say “illustrious” families often have multiple names. It seems to go with the territory of having many important people in the family who either want or are given some kudos by having babies named after them. Babies, buildings - it’s kind of the same thing. It’s why we have a president named George Herbert Walker, after all. I have a friend from a famous family who says sometimes he can’t even remember himself all his names, or he gets their order mixed up. (I don’t believe him.)</p>
<p>If it is a girl, I hope they name her Elizabeth. Or maybe Victoria. </p>

<p>I really hope they don’t chose one of those old fashioned Victorian names. I would hate Kate forever if she had a girl and called it Victoria or Elizabeth… god how boring. The future Queen of Sweden who was born last year was named Estelle, wouldn’t it be fun if Kate had a son called Joey?</p>

<p>if a girl, it IS going to be Elizabeth or Victoria. (And if Victoria, then Elizabeth will be the second name.) Diana will be one of the middle names, and it won’t be next to Elizabeth. Carole or Caroline also a middle name for Kate’s mother.</p>

<p>I’d like to suggest Daphne, a shared initial with Diana and both have mythology references. Felix for a boy, thought that is not going to happen. I’m hoping against Elizabeth, Victoria or Charlotte, just too overused and that’s what all those middle names are for. Georgiana perhaps?</p>

<p>I don’t think that is at all likely. I don’t know why you think naming one’s child after one’s parent/grandparent is in keeping with British history/tradition - it isn’t, at least not anymore. There is already a future Queen Elisabeth and she’s not British but Belgian.</p>

<p>It’s common for all European royals. Even the Scandinavian royals (who are not at all pompus, they marry single parents and divorcees(!) also do it.</p>
