But the admissions committee did not receive my scores before the Early Decision deadline.

So I think that my scores really boosted my application in the regular decisions pool. Otherwise, I don’t think its normal to be deferred ED and get a likely letter later on…

UVA just called me to ask me if i have any questions. They said they call the top 500 acceptances. They also said those who receive this phone call are scholar status, but she couldnt guarantee it.

Just want to remind everyone that Echols scholars were announced one year from tommorow, so maybe some of us will get some good news in our email inboxes tommorow :).

Three out of the four people from my schools that applied to UVA got them. I don’t think that all three of those people are getting Echols, so I don’t think the likely letters are as selective as one might hope.

Have any ED people gotten the call? Or I guess maybe they wouldn’t need to, if the call is about “considering UVA” and they clearly already have.

My son was admitted ED, and he got an Echols call around 2/14. She basically just asked him if he was familiar with the program and gave him her email address if he had any questions.

westbeach - that’s odd, because like three out of 20+ students who applied to uva got likely letters… i guess it just varies from school to school?

yeah, i guess it just depends on who applies. the lowest class rank of those who got the letter was 15/214. AND yesterday i asked my friends to verify and it was actually only 2 out of the 4 that got the letter. but one of those four didnt get the echols letter.

I am an int’l student, residing in India. Applied to engineering. Stats:2260, Top1% class of 900, ECs great. Any chances for intl students to be admitted to Rodman Scholar Prog? Haven’t received ‘likely’ letter- extremely anxious! Thanx! Desperate to be in UVA 2010 class!!!

I just got a letter from UVA saying good things and HANG IN THERE TILL APRIL 1 and a number to call and an e-mail as well to help me decide to make UVA home for the next 4 years!!! ( It sounde like a likely letter to me but then again I dont know??? Any thoughts on this will be greatly appreciated.

o ok…look at a thread I posted…mine said something about UVa bieng a leader in retaining african americans…and I’m black so that would make sense lol

You write: “to help me decide to make UVA home for the next 4 years!!!”

That sound excellent to me, but without more of the exact wording and bulk of the letter, it is hard to say, but sounds VERY promising!!
Did you already send in your midterm grades?
It is definitely a positive letter, in my humble opinion, and I would be thrilled to get one like that!
Would you be so kind as to share some of the exact wording?

I got in Early, but I’m waiting on hearing Rodman. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any sort of pre-indication for scholarship status (Echols or Rodman) if you got in early, or would that be silly to hope for, seeing as a “likely letter” would sorta be unneeded since I agreed to go there.

live4…
My son was accepted ED last year and he received a phone call towards the end of February from an then current Echols’ student asking him if he was familiar with the program and if he had any questions. I think he got the actual Echols letter towards the end of March.
