Whyivy, my S received a similar letter around the same time last year. Soon after he received a letter about the Echols program. A couple days before April 1 he received his regular decision acceptance letter.

Thank you so much for responding , I e-mailed the person I was asked to contact and was told its a likely letter!!! and I should expect more letter in the coming week! I am so excited at the same time I dont believe anything till I see it on paper. Any new information I will post it. Thank you again! I have sent my mid year report about a week ago My gpa stands as of now 3.9/4.62

Anyone else get a similar letter. I read about jaw, and that certainly looked good. Who signed your letter, whyivy?

powderpuff

Admission officer

I got the same letter the original poster from last year posted. Dated feb 15th, signed by dean of admission (woohoo!)…so does this mean i’m being considered for echols??

Congrats lights

lights_out,
Tell us more about where you live (are you in-state?) and what your stats are like…

yea, in-state and it was dated yesterday, got it today, so i’m prolly among the first to see mine. my stats are pretty good i guess, seeing as how I have gotten into Georgetown and 2 safeties-- not trying to brag or whatever, just trying to give you a good picture/solidify my stats… 2230 SAT, 3.9 gpa, nice rank, varsity athlete, etc.

I got the letter too, but it didn’t mention this echols thing. What is it? Would I have a shot to get it?

2310 SAT I, 800, 800, 710 SAT II, 4.00, 11/520 rank, Varsity Captain, Academic team Co-Captain, NHS Treasurer, NMSF

Thanks to anyone who can help!

D in No. VA got same letter today so maybe they are trickling out.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH, i got one!!! agggggggggggg

Got one!!!

I got one, I would be really excited but I’m tired as crap seeing as I just got back from ODU MUN conference.

Anyways, does getting this necessarily mean you are getting echols/rodman? I’m not sure if it only means your being considered or you’ve been accepted into the program.

Oh yeah, my stats are ok

In state
School of Engineering
GPA: 4.12(W) 3.52(UW) Rank: 21/450ish
SAT I: 680/680/640 (i guess i had a bad time)
SAT II 790/750 (Math II / Physics)
ACT: 34 (35 math, 31 verbal, 35 science, 33 whatever the other one is)

Neat EC’s: I’m doing an internship at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) on radio-frequency data acquisition, I also had an internship at NASA where I worked on calibrating MEMS mics for phase. The stuff i did at NASA got invited to the Inter-Noise 2006 Congress on Acoustics. So i guess thats probably what got me in. I have the generic president of blah blah and a bunch of math/science competition awards

recs: my GC told me she had never read a better recommendation in all her 10 years of being a gc (at a school that usually sends the top 10 to ivy’s). She said the other one was good but that the teacher is a poor writer.

ehiunno, your stats are average for UVA but your ECs are fantastic. You’re an excellent example of someone who’s competitive for Echols/Rodman selection without having stratospheric stats.

Notice, kids, that his ECs are good because they show incredible academic and personal commitment and accomplishment. They’re also unique. Anyone can be a National Honor Society officer or a runner on the XC team, but how many people have internships at JLab?

I got one today. Good to know it was a likely letter. : )

I got the letter matching me to an African-American student last week and I got the likely letter today. Things are looking good.

wow, it seems like lots of people got likely letters!

I got one as well- such a relief!

Are any of you who got a letter from the Philadelphia area? If Feng is in MD and got it today, I am hoping my D will get one on Tuesday (no mail Monday - bummer).

Got mine today, but I’m in-state.
