I own a Lilly P phone case and a tote. i don’t wear the dresses.
D won’t wear anything too "preppy’, but we both like Kate Spade.
S is the really preppy dresser here. Lives in J Crew (me too), Jack Willis and Vinyard Vines (not the wild pants though ).
I think that just like college “prestige,” clothing brand name “prestige” is local too!!
I remember a message board debate from years ago where someone from CA was talking about a group of teen boys who wore polo shirts and shorts to an amusement park, and they thought it was “dressy” and those of us with more east coast roots were going - dressy? Huh? How is a polo shirt “dressy” - it’s casual wear and we could easily see a polo shirt and shorts at an amusement park or for just bumming around town!
I think this is the best supportive and cushioned flip flop. It’s a post race shoe that is sold at the triathlon expos. I got some in Kona and then got a few more pairs. They are awesome.
Emelda (that would be BB)…did I miss your comment about the Jack Russell sandals?
Does anyone have Havaianas? People seem to ooh and goo over them but they just look like overpriced flip flops to me!
Well, I’ll be darned! My mom got a bunch of things for me, my sister, and my niece at the physical store. Several of the things we wanted, and the right sizes too! She is one heck of an expert shopper. A trait I did not inherit!
I have some Havaianas that I got on St. John, but I’m not really a flip flop person except at the beach or pool. I prefer the Oofos or other sport sandals. I think Havaianas are cute and have neat patterns, but, yes, they are pricier (but still not very expensive) flip flops.
Teriwtt- also check out Super Feet sandals/flip flops. Excellent support. I wear them a lot in the summer.
Lol, thumper! I do not like flip flops in the so-called thong style, so no Jack Russels for me. Although their wedges are fun looking, they are too pricey for what they are:

Speaking of shoes, eons ago Jimmy Choo partnered with h&m and made a line of shoes for them. Same story: hordes of resellers descended and wiped out the stock. Those JC for H&M have been floating on eBay for ever!

The one I got at this resale shop looks somewhat like this, I think … I thought it was a nice basic for summer, but not worth $150 at regular retail.
Jack Rogers (mostly look alikes) are quite popular among young ladies here in Seattle. Not as popular as Birks, but I have seen a few yesterday when the temps hit 70.
I don’t care for Birks, personally. I think you can find comfort without having it be so clunky and chunky and masculine looking. But, to each her own of course - that’s just my personal taste, which means nothing to anyone other than myself! I wear flats all the time, so it’s not a thing against flats - just against chunky flats.
Flip Flop Shops have many of the brands discussed here - and more. Jack Rogers sandals are in a different category. Great place to comparison shop!
I love Birks and have always had multiple pairs. They are not gorgeous, but I do have some silver and some gold ones for dressier occasions!
Pizzagirl, I’m not a fan of Birks either. Too heavy and too clunky for everyday wear for the $$ invested. Plus, I do not look good in heavy wool socks. B-)
MOfWC’a suggestion of the recovery flip flops is a great one! I wear my Crocs around the house after long runs, but I’m getting myself a pair of oofos, just not the “thong” style.
My girls wear Havaianas and Rainbow flip flops. I know of Jack Russell and you see them but I didn’t know that they were trendy in some parts of the country. I prefer to not have anything between my toes. The one exception is a pair of Chaco flip flops that I find comfortable. They also have a great arch.
I don’t see or hear much about Lily P but I do know the name.
Now Uggs are extremely popular. I have several pairs in different colors and heights. All ages wear them in my area. I would never wear with shorts or a dress. I live in the area that Ugg headquarters is located. They have a beautiful showroom of many of their products and the other brands owned by the same company. Ugg brand is not just sheepskin boots. The parent company also owns Teva, Sanuk and several other brands.
Do many people in California really wear Uggs with shorts? I can understand surfers wearing Uggs on beach when it’s cold and they are wearing a surfing bodysuit …but shorts and Uggs? Too I can understand lifeguards like ‘Pam Anderson’ wearing Uggs in lifeguard watch stand with parka on while watching surfers in cold surf who have bodysuits on. Or, competitive swimmers could use Uggs on deck at an outdoor swim meet in cold weather to keep their feet warm while wearing a big swim parka too. If a swimmer has freezing cold feet up on a starting block they are out of business because feet that are locked up numb from cold won’t be able to do anything racing even in a heated pool.
Bunsen- I rarely can stand the thong style sandals, but the Oofos (and the Super Feet) sandals work for me for some reason. I also have the non-thong Oofos and love them. In fact, I have Oofos clogs for winter with socks. I am what my business school courses referred to as “the heavy half” in terms of spend…
Best, most comfortable sandals I ever owned: http://www.shoebacca.com/4174-ravn?gclid=CLKsl5Xth8UCFQiQaQodCacAmg
Here in Maryland (DC burbs) I see girls in Uggs and short skirts all the time. And you never see just one–always a group of girls, all of whom are wearing this.
Whatever happened to all the Laura Ashley clothes you used to see? Is LP a replacement for that?
My daughter prefers Boden and Brooklyn Industries.
