Live webcam of an eagles nest, with sound

I look at the website to see if occasionally eggs don’t hatch. In 2006 neither of the two eggs hatched. Hatching usually occurs about day 35 - give or take a few days. Today is day 41 for the second egg. Phoenix may be an only eaglet. :)

If the egg doesn’t hatch does anyone know how long the eagles keep it in the nest? What do they do with it?

I think half or maybe more of the 2,000 plus viewers on the eagle website must be a result of it being posted on CC. I sent the link to the parents of my students and I know they are all watching the eagles. I just got an email from one of them sharing the following link of a hummingbird nest - [Phoebe Allens WebCam](http://phoebeallens.com/) . I know we don’t need one more thing to watch and I’m not sure it will be quite as exciting as the eagles, but the eggs were laid on 4/23 and 4/25, take 17 days to hatch, and should be hatching sometime early next week.

When the baby panda was born in D.C. I lost countless otherwise-billable hours to the Panda Cam. I’m kind of relieved that I don’t find this one quite as compelling.

My students and their families are all watching the eagles too!

Very worried about the other eaglet…

According to the website, sometimes an egg doesn’t hatch for the simple reason that it wasn’t a fertilized egg. (So - if the egg doesn’t hatch, I’m going with that reason. :))

Hi, Was this nest built in a dry tree [dead] tree? How tall is the tree or post?

Feeding time…baby is growing fast…

BU and BC: "I just got an email from one of them sharing the following link of a hummingbird nest - Phoebe Allens WebCam . "

Thanks for sharing…nice view and beautiful bird.

Latest update:

Hanna, I have to confess that I was addicted to the Panda Cam also. We had that one on in the classroom constantly.

Since the birth of Phoenix the parents have been leaving the other egg exposed to the elements for too long, and the weather has not been the best here in the PNW - we had snow on the ground last night…

I think the mom and dad eagle nurtured both Phoenix and the unhatched egg closely after Phoenix hatched - until yesterday (day 41 for the unhatched egg) or perhaps the day before that (day 40). I wonder if eagle parents sense that an egg won’t hatch. Of course, both still tuck the egg under them along with Phoenix while sitting on the nest - but do seem to step away from both baby and egg longer now than they did three or four days ago.

I like how mom or dad eagle now sits upright with Phoenix somewhat tucked in front but able to look out and observe his surroundings. (Mom or Dad just yawned - I remember the feeling. :).) Phoenix seems so aware of his parents now. He’ll look to see where they are - if not next to him. He happily “talks” to them after feeding. ONE WEEK OLD today.

Yes…it is marvelous. You still can see his head sticking out from M or D body.
Cute little fellow!

The baby is already so big! So cute :)

What’s become of the other egg? Do they still sit on it?

Wow, the baby is just so mature looking and fussing an eating as fast as Mama can feed him or her.
No sign of the other egg - what happened to it?
