It is officially a Longchamp season I, too, tested my Longchamp tote last weekend, and it worked great as a travel bag! My purse fit inside the tote well (for carryon pieces consolidation), and the rolled handles stayed put on my shoulder. Loved it! Gotta hide it from DD
I have to say that it does not work as well as my Burberry tote for carrying my laptop around, but for all other purposes it surpasses the Burberry!

Went on vacation last week and needed an extra tote. I found a great Longchamp bag that I hadnāt seen before. The bag has a long strap as well as two handles and it unzips for extra room so you can put lots of stuff in it. If you donāt need the space, you can keep it zipped up. It was a great find. This is the one I got.

Well I sat my LongChamp down on something wet and now it needs a GOOD cleaning. Early in this thread a poster says she throws her bag in the washer Ā
. Has anyone else tried washing a LC in the machine? I am scared about the leather.

TutuTaxi (love your screen name, btw!), I have not washed my Longchamp tote yet, but I did wash my nylon Burberry tote with leather bottom and handles. I threw it into my front loader washer and used the handwash cycle, just detergent and no fabric softener, then the tote was air dried. When I told this story to a salesperson at the Burberry outlet, she examined the tote and could not believe that Iāve done it! I think I will do the same with my Longchamp tote when the time comes - it has even fewer leather parts.
If you do not want to get your leather handles wet, you can try to hand-wash just the nylon part in a sink while keeping the leather dry, than hang the bag to dry.

Iām the one who has washed her Longchamp tote in the washer, leather handles and all.

Just take it out as soon as itās done spinning and hang up to dry. It works fine. Really.

I might have used Woolite to wash it, rather than detergent. Donāt think it really makes a difference, though.

I washed a LC tote too. Turned out fine. I put the machine on the handwash cycle with warm water and hung it up to dry.

For those of you who have washed the bags: did that harm the water repellancy? Or did you scotchguard the bag afterward?

Any ideas on who can repair the strap which was torn off a Lonchamp tote? DD had her tote stepped on while racing to a train, the stitching on a strap totally ripped off. We tried hand sewing the strap back on with heavy duty thread, it just ripped again.

Maybe a shoe repair place?

Take it to a Longchamp store they should repair it for free or small fee.
I had several repairs done on some of mine leather bags, they repaired them and even repolished the leather for me. (That was in France )
I would think that in a big Metropole store they would do the same :)

Same is true of Burberrys, Hermes etcā¦Good Luck

Thank you 2education! Iāll suggest she take it in to the Boston store. Yay. Hated to see the waste of such money.

Thanks, I am traveling now - which is how I had my mishap with my LongChamp. I plan on washing it in the machine when I get home. I love this bag and I donĀt think it is being made in the color I have, which is darker than beige but lighter than chocolate.

Did yaĀll know LongChamp makes luggage? :)

Yes. Very expensive luggage.

Yes, very expensive and extremely durable luggage. Lightweight, too. My friend still travels with her pieces that she got when she was in grad school. And that was many, many moons ago! Iām thinking of buyng a bigger tote (like the one mentioned a few posts ago) for weekend traveling.

I ruined a pumpkin colored Longchamp bag on a flight a few years ago. When I placed it under the seat in front of me, something must have been on the floor, soaked into the carpet. Whatever it was wicked up the sides of the bag. It was an overnight flight and the cabin was dark most of the time, so I didnāt notice until it was too late. Disgusting - I couldnāt get it clean - had to throw it away at the hotel. It seemed like the prior passengerās food bag had leaked. I always use the overhead bin now, although thatās probably just as risky.

Longchamp will replace bags even if theyāre ruined by negligence. My dās Longchamp tote wore in the corners; looked like normal wear & tear. They fixed it.

I am thinking about ordering one for my D. Bloomingdales is having a 20% off everything sale I think till sunday. Code SpringFF

Gourmetmom, that is exactly what happened to my LongChamp bag, but thanks to VeryHappy and BunsenBurner I am very happy :). My bag is just like new Ā leather and all. I washed it in the machine on gentle cycle with a little Nordstrom lingerie liquid soap. I use luke warm water for the wash cycle and cold rinse water. I put it in the dryer for 2 minutes of air dry, thoroughly towel dried the inside and hung the bag upside down to air dry completely. Looking at the bag now you would never know it had the stained bottom or had been washed.

^^^^ Terrific!!

Good to know that I can safely take my Longchamps bag on my trip. Ugh, airplanes are so icky.

Bumping back up
My D took my Longchamp large tote back to school. Of course I now need one for myself. I just ordered a Navy but I am seriously considering the orange. Would you ladies consider their orange to be a neutral? My D took the slate. I loved the slate color but donāt want to replace it with the same color. We on occasion travel together and I donāt want to be matching.
