from TN…and nope…have not heard…

@ those who have not received their letters:
Well, a number of CCers and I have stated before, the letter was dated and postmarked April 1st. My guess is that if you haven’t received the letter yet, you either weren’t a semifinalist or your letter is just really late (for your sake, I hope it’s the latter).

Best wishes!

You won’t receive any notification if you are not selected as a semifinalist (at least that’s how it has worked in the past). If you are a semifinalist but aren’t chosen as a finalist, they do notify you of that. I am guessing that if you haven’t heard yet, you are probably not a semifinalist.

guess i didnt get it…o well.

Has anybody from Southern California received a letter yet? Lowes has a lot of stores here…

I don’t think Lowe’s awards by store. Best Buy does, but Lowe’s is more a national thing. You’re not really competing against local students. It’s a national pool. If you didn’t get it, you’re in good company … probably with about 70,000 other great students! Remember, just because you didn’t get this one doesn’t mean you don’t have a good chance at getting other scholarships. Keep trying & keep hoping!

kelsmom: The very first question on the Lowes scholarship application is the individual store location number, so I suspect it is awarded by store. Also, If you look at the 2007 winners list on Lowes website, the winners are from the locations that Lowes has stores. I just think that it is interesting that there have been no reports here of letters received in Southern California.

Well, yeah, but I think just being within a certain radius of a Lowe’s store only makes you eligible. There are 352 local scholarships but more than 352 Lowe’s stores around the nation. I agree with kelsmom - I think they select winners from across the nation.

Last year, 10% of the winners were from California.

did anyone in PA get a letter because i didthe app. and i havent heard anything

Tried to fax the information requested for semi-finalist, but couldn’t get through, so just mailed it in.
We got a call from Sship Adms. that the fax didn’t work also.

How many Semi-fi’s are there for how many sships?

I’m worrying about whether to fax or send it in.
Who’s going to fax and who’s going to send?

D is going to mail hers because her teacher recommendation is sealed. She thought about opening and faxing it, but decided the recommendation might carry a tiny bit more weight if it was sealed. There is still plenty of time for mail to get there before the deadline.

Bumping 2008 thread.

If you are a semifinalist, does your statue on the SPA page change? What do all the semifinalists’ SPA pages say?

question: I’m a semifinalist, but are the finalists those who get the scholarship, or is there another round of submitting information after finalists status to become a scholarship winner?

After I submitted the application, it was “Online Submitted” in red. I got the semi-finalist letter April 4th and so far nothing in my online status has changed.

I wish the scholarships would let us know when we are no longer in the running! Especially the ones we submit online, because they have our email addresses and it wouldn’t cost them a thing to send out a message. I got a semi-finalist letter for the Metro PCS one, and never heard anything else. It makes you wonder if it might have been lost in the mail or something. I hope this one turns out better!

Good question, icypineapple! The letter didn’t give any information about that at all. I guess we just wait and hope?

I think finalists are the ones who receive the scholarship. Last year, finalists/winners were notified early to mid-May; there wouldn’t be time to do another round. Besides, what else would they have us send for consideration?

You are in the final stage! Even though Lowes doesn’t let people know that they were not selected as semifinalists, they DO let semifinalists know if they were not selected as finalists (by email, I think). That’s probably because there are so many thousands fewer people to contact at this stage.
