My heart really breaks for you as based on your posts, this seemed so important to you. I don’t have any unique insight to share, but anecdotally, it seems like schools award significant financial aid / scholarships to those that have a unique “hook” and fill a gap that the school has. I wish that were not the case, but based on stories I’ve heard even in local private schools, that’s how scholarships seem to work, so a sports team need, a spike in an art form, or a unique personal life story representation that they can tout becomes the focus. I only offer that perspective as if I were you at this stage, I’d feel lost and looking for an answer to “why.” Based on your profile, it isn’t about you in terms of your academic excellence or your ability to engage in the community as you showed you could do that in your interviews. The Rubik’s cube interest is super amazingly cool, but sadly, since there’s no team at the school, it doesn’t fill a gap. It’s unfortunate as it is all a weird system.
