Whether 4 is enough depends on whether you get into at least one.
There are some parents here that seem to be rather successful at getting their children into low admit schools - and none of them come across as the brutally cut throat ones.
There are other people that seem a tad more intense who seem to have little success no matter how many applications they send out.
If you already have a B list of schools that you’ve already researched, it might be worth it, but randomly adding schools that you’re not particularly enthusiastic about at the last minute might not help.
Also, if M10 doesn’t turn out well, there’s always rolling admissions…
Disclaimer: my kid only applied to 2. One acceptance, one waitlist. Needed lots of FA and got it.
It’s always a good idea to add safety schools, but if you haven’t been able to interview at a school, I doubt the value of applying there regardless its acceptance rate.
I applied to 6 schools- Exeter, Andover, Choate, Groton, St. Paul’s, and Middlesex. The panic is setting in and it’s only January.
Is anybody else already planning out their schedule for March 10th? I’m gonna be staying home from school just to check the portals, lmao. I don’t think I could get anything done if I was at school knowing that the decisions were out.
Loll same but idk if my parents would let me stay home. I hope they would because I wouldn’t even be able to concentrate on anything at school knowing my decisions are out!
Hang in there! You will look back on this period and be impressed with how much focus and effort you applied towards a goal at a young age. Once the applications are in, it’s out of your control. This is a good time to practice letting go, a skill that can serve you well later in life. It’s also about faith that, either way, you will be better for having gone through the process. If you get rejected everywhere, you will be really bummed out for a while. A few months later, you will realize that you can survive rejection, and you will be so much stronger than you would have been if you never tried. Getting stronger psychologically is usually painful, unfortunately. My guess is that you will get in somewhere, and you will have choices. You will likely go to an amazing school. No matter what happens, you are so much better off for having tried. Please don’t look past that.
I needed a post like this, thank you
I’m hoping that I get accepted somewhere but I’m mentally preparing myself to get rejected. I applied to 6 of the top schools, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened. Worst case scenario I go to my public high school (which is the best in my state) and I get to stay with my friends, so I’m in a better situation then a lot of other kids applying.
Keep in mind even if you get rejected everywhere this process still increases your chances of doing well in highschool- you already have experience with interviews, writing essays, and asking for recs, which will all come in handy for the college application process. Even if you get rejected from all of your schools you’re still gonna have a leg up over your peers.
(chat it’s only January and I’m already finding coping methods, help)
