M10 2025 Freakout Thread!

When I was in the midst of the application process, I just wanted to get it over with. But now that all of my apps are submitted I’m panicked and overthinking them :sob:

Same! I made a few grammar mistakes in my essay for the school that I had the highest chance of getting into and now Im so scared :sob: someone pls send encouragement that they’ll ignore it hopefully

Dont worry! AOs know you and I are only teenagers and dont expect us to be perfect! As long as your essay wasnt filled with errors top to bottom I think it will be fine.

I don’t think it’ll matter, even on the off-chance they notice. Like @DishonestPug10 said they don’t expect us to be perfect, and they’ll focus on the overall message of your essay rather than if you forgot a comma or not. I totally understand the panic though- I haven’t read my essays over since I submitted, I’m terrified of noticing any mistakes

If you don’t mind me asking what school was it? And what others are you applying to?

Anyone else literally counting the days until M10? It’s gonna be a long couple months (OK, a long 49 days lol)

I have a countdown on my phone… 49 days away… scary

Same… if I don’t think too hard, then it’s actually not that far away. Only a 54 day wait in total, and we’re already 10% of the way there!

Assuming the AOs look through the applications at a constant rate, around 10% of them have been graded thus far for each school. I’m applying to 6, so there’s a decent chance that one of my applications has already been decided on. The tension is killing me :grimacing: :sob:

The top schools usually have around 2000 applicants. Divided by 54 is 35-40 applications a day. Assuming there are at least 10 AOs, each one does 3-4 per day. Which means they’re spending a lot more time on each application than I originally thought- probably 1-2 hours, although I might’ve gotten something wrong.

Detailed breakdown :sob: I’m surprised that they would spend so long on a single application, but then again they don’t have the same volume as colleges lol. One of my schools emailed saying they needed help accessing one of my multimedia submissions, so it’s safe to say one of mine has been reviewed…

What would an AO spend 1-2 hours on my application for? How detailed are they looking at my apps… This is making me more anxious lol

It’s good to hear that they email you about issues with multimedia, since I had some worries that the AOs wouldn’t find mine. College AOs tend to have a lot less time per application- I heard they only spend 15-20 minutes for each. Actually pretty reasonable, considering many can get over 50,000 applications a year

Sorry! That wasn’t my intention with the post… I just wanted somewhere to yap.
Overall I think it’s good news though- I’d assume the majority of the time is spent reading over the essays, but the remaining margin would probably be thinking about how well you fit into the community. For example, if you play soccer- do they need a soccer player? Maybe they want more representation in STEM and the fact that you do computer science helps. Your application is also reviewed by multiple people, so that would take more time- multiple AOs means they’re less likely to miss something on your app. But that’s all just my guess… remember I’m also applying at the same time as you lol

Totally get it though… I want it to be over with, just tell me if I’m rejected or not :sob:

What was yalls SSAT score? I had a 67 so I think that is going to get me a lot of rejections.

Hey guys! I’m also applying to GLADCHEMMS, and currently freaking out!! If possible could some of you look at my CHANCE ME!!

Don’t be too discouraged! AOs look at your entire application, not just SSAT. I got a 87 percentile.

I agree- a 67th percentile does not mean an auto-rejection, although a higher score can help. I got a 96 overall, which I’m relieved with.

I personally know someone with an SSAT score in the 60s that got into Taft-so don’t fuss about it! Just don’t submit it to test-optional schools and try to expand your list

do schools prefer the ssat over the isee? :sob:
