M10 2025 Freakout Thread!

I agree! Good Luck!

I’m actually Catholic (mostly through parental influence), so I’m not sure I wanna go to school with a heavy religious influence especially cause many of them are very strict! I also think the Niche rankings are funky!

For Andover, what was yalls long essay?

I chose the “ways you intentionally built character”
Joining the student council
My Struggles with starting the clarinet
and volunteering at the animal shelter.
wbu?

I chose the value of different cultures and how that changed me. Mine was about being in a place where being the ‘smart kid’ wasn’t valued, and the mild resent I felt towards people who played sports, but also about the moment that changed my mindset. Kind of a way for me to explain how I overcame low self-esteem that caused this, and how I became unafraid of doing things I’m bad at (sports!! :sob:).

I wrote about how attending a cultural event inspired me to join the asian affinity group, help others, etc.

what about for Exeter? long essays

Did anyone here get to visit Loomis? It was the only school I did not get to visit, but I absolutely LOVED my interviewer. I was so disappointed I did not get to tour lol.

I was thinking of applying but eventually crossed it off my list- I’m in the Boston Area and Connecticut is too far away for me. All of my schools are in Massachusetts/New Hampshire besides Choate, which is the exception because of the super great science/tech programs.

For Exeter my first prompt was a no brainer- “Explain the significance of an object you would bring to Show and Tell.” I seized this opportunity to dive into my hobby of speedcubing (solving Rubik’s cubes quickly). I explained the significance of the Rubik’s Cube, which hopefully is unique enough for the AO to remember. I also mentioned this in my interview.

For my second prompt, I chose the “non-sibi” one because I felt it catered more specifically to the school while also expanding on my morals/values. The topic was a bit more basic (volunteering as a TA in math class) but I feel the writing was pretty solid.

I did the same prompts. For the show and tell I talked about my love for food and how I had to stop eating because I was obese. And for the non sibi I talked about volunteering at my local the food bank and how serving food reminded me of eating food which made me.

I’m just kidding. I wrote about getting rejected from a debate team and my decision to try year after year until I made it and placed first(for the decision essay) and I wrote on my favorite person and I talked about my robotics coach

I chose the non sibi, and someone outside of ur family prompts

I wrote about postponing my personal belt test to support the chess team, and a friend of mine.

Does anybody else keep checking Gateway out of habit…? It’s satisfying to look at the sea of green “submitted” checkmarks. The optional forms which say “not started” are really bugging me though lol.

Yea, I’m thinking about sending my MUN position paper for optional forms but idk. Do you know where the decision portal is ?

Each decision will be given to you on M10 through the school’s individual portal, which you should have gotten details for after inquiring. That’s also where you can see the status of your application in more depth than Gateway- for example, I can see my submitted SSAT scores. (You could also submit supplemental info through the portal for some schools)

I chose same as u and talked about my experience at Andover summer coming from an extremely white community and how it made me realize that my culture wasn’t something to be ashamed of as well as taught me how important diverse communities are in helping to learn new things and being more open minded

I wrote about my bookshelf ( 1000+ books) the show and tell

and my grandmother’s story of being a child bride at 12 ( background essay)

OMG I loved my interviewer to was yours a girl

Yep! Did you get to visit campus lol?
