They have probably looked through my application. THIS IS VERY DAUNTING!!!

lol something i figured out last year was that if u get in, some schools email you + parents
if waitlisted/rejected they only email you the link to the portal

ik and its rlly scary omg!!!

How do you know that?

Because there is only 14 more days the chance is high that they looked through my application

Although this is reasonable logic, you don’t really know if they have made a final decision yet. Indeed, it is possible they are still making final adjustment to their offer list until quite close to the notification date, as they probably only need a relatively short period of time to organize and double check the planned notifications.

Although of course all this is speculative, I do think it is worth remembering they aren’t making a judgment about your application in complete isolation. They are trying to shape an overall class based on their various institutional priorities, and what that means for individual applicants is not necessarily truly decided until the whole offer list is locked down.

Although it is all about depends on the admission, when is the final decision usually made?

How many days before the announcement day?

So for a precise answer, someone in admissions would have to tell you that for each specific school.

However, from what I have heard . . . it seems something on the order of 2-3 days is likely all they need after the list is considered locked. This is enough time to double-check the list has no errors, set up the mechanics of electronic notification, and stuff envelopes and such, if they are doing that.

Of course they could give themselves more time for that last phase if they like. But something like that is probably all they strictly need.

Of course that doesn’t mean the process of deciding happens all at once. It just means they could, if they like, still be resolving some final close cases, making adjustments based on how things shaped up generally, and so on, up until they move into that final administrative phase.

The folks I know who have worked in BS admissions are usually still working through their list now. They meet as a committee to make sure they have met all institutional needs. Remember, everyone fills more than one need, so it’s balance they’re seeking. Admissions might take a list to the FA office to see if it will fit in the budget. Based on that, there may be further adjustments.

As has been mentioned above, they are creating a class. Think of it as building an team. Yes, everyone has to be a decent athlete (ie, scores and grades), but then they need different skills.

Your application has almost certainly been read at this point, and now it’s just a matter of whether it helps complete the puzzle. I would also encourage every one of you to re-set from a “dream school” mentality to an openness to the opportunies you will undoubtedly have, with or without BS.

Why does “around 1/6 people get accepted” sound better than “around 16% of people get accepted” to me? :sob:

lol I remember u! (I was reading the 2024 Freakout Thread)

Unlikely, but I would LOVE if the acceptance rates go UP this year and the next few years.
