Malware warning?

I got the malware warnings on Safari yesterday too for a good part of the day and so could not access CC. Then, it went away, but then I got the McDonald’s ad fold down thing which was annoying and so thanks for the Safari Adblock link which I just downloaded (very quick) and it’s gone now.

I just got some kind of adobe error/conflict message pop up on my screen right after McDonalds ad popped up on my display. I’m using IE browser.

Thanks to all who recommended AdBlock. It’s fabulous to have that annoying McDonald’s ad disappear–not to mention all the other ads!

^^^^^^No kidding!

We just installed wireless internet at our lake house (no more getting my CC fix using my 3G phone, which often just wouldn’t load anything). I noticed with some annoyance that compared to my service at home, that it was running really slow, taking a long time to load pages, etc. I installed the adblock, and now the McDonald’s ad is gone, and my pages are loading really quickly.

What a great tip.

I have ie. How do I find ad block for that?

Friends don’t let friends use IE. But if you must, here’s one version (there are many out there, and I make no claims as to how well this one works, since I don’t use IE): [Adblock IE - CNET Download.com](Del Ad for Internet Explorer - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download)

Yesterday I started getting ads popping up and I don’t think I resolved my issue, but I made an interesting discovery on my Mac.

On Safari go to preferences and then privacy. To the right and down from cookies and web site data, click on details. This is a list of the sites you have been on, but also of all sites that are tracking you…creepy.

I installed the adblocks, but my DH tells me it might also prevent needed popup warnings like when a printer isnt working or if a site is suspicious , etc. I hope I am paraphrasing correctly, but he wants me to uninstall it :(

For anyone that is interested I have the free version of malwarebytes and picked it up first time and I have not a problem at all

Agree about getting rid of IE - the worst of the choices.

Install Adblock - very nifty. I’ve used it with Chrome, Firefox and now Safari - works like a charm.

It won’t. Adblock blocks the ads on the actual site, but not popups from other programs, such as your anitivirus or your printer software. I’ve used it for years.

Oddly, getting to CC using IE was not a problem…while all of you are posting that use of Firefox and Safari WAS a problem. I have both on my computer…IE and this site worked fine all day yesterday. Safari didn’t work on this machine or my IPad.

I’ll keep IE just for those times when I need it.

Google Safe Browsing Warning today has this link about CC:

<a href=“Google Transparency Report”>Google Transparency Report;

Yep, it’s BACK! The malware warning on my desktop…

The tech people are working on it.

Could it be that the (now turned off) ads have been hijacked by malware?

I have always used cnet for software information, reviews, and downloads. I always considered it safe. No longer. I recently downloaded a freeware ps reader from cnet, and these awful software programs took over my browser - whitesmoke, conduit, several ad programs. I thought that maybe I’d clicked on the wrong thing. With great difficulty, I got rid of them all. Then I downloaded another freeware program from cnet, carefully. The same thing happened! I checked their forums and there are many complaints.

cnet has gone to the dark side.

I got the CC malware warning from Firefox, but not from IE.

How do you get rid of IE entirely? It seems to be embedded in Windows 7.

I got a NASTY virus on my laptop last night/this morning. DH said a coworker had the same virus a week or so ago, so he took my laptop to his office to see if he can get the virus off. I am anxious about being on cc right now on my office computer. I got the warning on chrome but not on IE

I got the CC malware warning from Google (not Chrome–just plain old Google). I just ignored the warning and went forward (know that this could be bad, but don’t really know how bad). Anyway, it’s impossible for me to post much on CC–the warning keeps coming back and it’s incredibly annoying. I guess it’s a sign that I should be doing other things. Anyway, I am completely lacking in knowledge about this and just want to know if anyone can tell me how to fix it?

Disable javascript in your browser.

(When browsing this site – you’ll want to re-enable it on other sites)
