Maria and Arnold are separated?

^^^Well, to be perfectly fair to the women, some of them were ‘professionals’ who wouldn’t be likely to say ‘no, you’re married’. And I think you meant ‘except for Larry Craig and Mark Foley’.

Add to the list: Moshe Katsav, ex-president of Israel, just sentenced to prison for rape.

If we added religious figures to the list, the list would get very long indeed.

P.S. Mark Foley didn’t actually have sex with any pages (not that I recall) but it certainly wasn’t for lack of effort.

The arrogance of that man to run for governor while sitting on a secret/scandal like that. Unbelievable. Obviously he was not too concerned about the impact of all this coming out on his children, his wife, or this child he fathered via sexual harassment of a household employee. What a creep.

I cannot assume it was sexual harrassment that led to the pregnancy, nor stupidity about birth control. If it was ongoing, well…

I too wondered how no one could not recognize Arnold’s features in the child.

I’ve always respected Maria. May she find happiness and contentment in her future.

It’s the arrogance that they won’t get caught that amazes me. Are we just keeping track of the politicians or can we add Tiger Woods to the list?

Excuse me, but when an employer is secretly having sex with a household employee, it is sexual harassment. There is a huge imbalance of power in the relationship, and neither party has been upfront about the sexual nature of their relationship. This is the equivalent of statutory rape when the defense is that the 14-year-old “consented.”

How about the former governor of South Carolina? Whatever happened to him? Did he give her up, or is he taking Spanish lessons?

Also, don’t forget Eisenhower.

And do diapers count? If so, we’d have to add Vitter.

I don’t think features are always that prominent in children. His coloring is very basic. I remember when mine were at a sizable nursery school, we were talking about how you can’t tell whose kids are whose though once you know, you can see the likenesses. Though everyone sees resemblances between each of my kids and me, no one is likely to pick out which ones are mine in a group. I have some blonds, and I am dark which confuses people. A good friend of mine is blond with a dark child and when the 4 of us, kids and us were together, people always paired me with her son and vice versa. It’s rare the resemblances are that striking.

A friend of mine was a production assistant on one of his films early in his marriage. His trailer was a revolving door for women and everyone knew about it. He was not discrete or apologetic at the time. I feel sorry for the wife and kids. I do agree with above poster that it sounds like harrassment to me since the other mom was an employee.

Mark Sanford - former gov of SC - is still in a relationship with his “soul-mate”

YUK

None of the Schwarzennegger kids look like mini-Arnolds. They are all average, sort of non-descript looking people. So I can see how (if Maria ever saw the child) she wouldn’t recognize it as Arnold’s child.

Arnold is clearly a creep but I wouldn’t necessarily say that the woman involved was harassed. She may have seen having Arnold’s child as a golden retirement plan. She’ll have child support money and maybe a future book deal or a deal from a tabloid.

Can we add Prince Charles to the list? I read he actually telephoned Camilla on his wedding night.

It is hard to believe others didn’t know about Arnold’s relationship with this woman and that he was the father of this child. I find it creepy that she continued to work for the family.

Can anyone name a famous woman who cheated on her spouse and created a scandal? I can’t think of anyone.

I think that’s because the Kennedy gene pool is full of dominant features. I’ve always thought there’s a strong resemblance across generations and branches of the tree in that family.

I wonder why Arnold decided to come clean this year? Maybe Maria started suspecting something was up…

Famous women who cheated on a spouse and created a scandal:

Princess Diana

Fergie, the Duchess of York

Ingrid Bergman

Well, he came clean publicly today because the LA Times told him they were running the story today. I am curious whether he told Maria because he knew the press had the story or whether he told Maria first and then someone in her inner circle leaked it.

Tatin–Thanks, those are great examples. Fergie, I would say, especially made a fool of herself, and is paying the price. I would have to look up the particulars of Ingrid Bergman, since I can’t recall the details. Elizabeth Taylor was a homewrecker, which I guess is a slightly different category.

Diana seems like a different kind of situation to me somehow. Maybe because Charles did it first and seemed to treat her badly. However, I always kind of blamed Diana, or perhaps it should have been her parents, for not making it more crystal clear to her what kind of bargain she was making from the outset. Apparently she thought she was going to be Queen-in-waiting, AND have a fairytale marriage. Sorry, she was buying into a business deal and she didn’t keep to the script.

Supposedly, he told her sometime after he left office, which could put his confession as early as January. The fact that the staffer “retired” in January could well point to an early confession.

Ingrid Bergman’s situation was back in the 50’s. She was married to Dr. Lindstrom and had a girl, Pia. She left both of them to have an affair with an Italian director Rosselini. I think at the time the U. S. Congress cancelled her passport, such was the outrage.

Elizabeth Taylor is another good example. She was still married to Eddie Fisher when she took up with Richard Burton.

And I’ve read somewhere that a not insubstantial number of children do not match the husband’s DNA, so obviously lots of ordinary women are having extra-marital affairs also but keeping it quiet.

Very sad.

Kind of ironic that the Clintons’ marriage might end up being the last one standing.
