Does anyone else get the impression that Maria and Arnold’s children did not know about this secret half-sibling until just now – that they were not told about this child when their mother moved out months ago? If that is the case, these kids must be reeling from the shift from “amicable separation” by parents who have grown apart to this – a split brought about by their father’s infidelity, long-term lies, secret child, and continued employment in their household of a woman he secretly impregnated. Especially if it is true that their father refused their mother’s request to move out, forcing their mother to move into a hotel while she figures out what to do now. That would be tough for a child to forgive.

Yes, I know . Which is why I said/asked in the rest of the post: There must be more to this story. What changed to make AS tell Maria and confirm the story??

I saw this morning on the news that one of the boys had changed his Twitter account name from Schwarzenegger to Shriver. :(

Tutu–the LA Times knew and was going to post the story. He was given a heads up. He told because he got caught. It was tell her or let her hear it from the reporters/media.

This case is sad and hurtful on so many levels. Cheating is extremely hurtful to the person cheated upon. In this case, a child resulted and was kept secret from the spouse. Then, the mistress was a trusted person in the household every day with the wife and kids…she was their housekeeper. So, the breach of trust even with someone the wife and kids were close to also hurts. Add in long term secrecy of this proportion (likely to save his political career on top of being a liar/cheater). Add in that it is all very public and that makes it harder for the hurt parties. I feel badly for Maria and their kids. I also feel badly for the son fathered with the mistress. I read that the mistress/housekeeper was fired (and it is not true she retired voluntarily).

soozievt - well said

This makes me so sad. It takes years to recover from a betrayal by a parent - I know. And if anyone thinks that infidelity does NOT affect the kids, I’d love to hear your argument.

TMZ has revealed the identity of the woman.

The Kennedy legacy of reckless infidelity by its men and the women who blindly accept it rears its ugly head one again.

Maria, Maria, Maria. What were you thinking?

“You knew darn well I was a snake before you took me in.”

Their children don’t deserve this.

My Sweet Babboo, your post sounds as if you’re putting most of the blame on the whole Kennedy family, and specifically Maria, for the poor judgment and behavior of Arnold Schwartzenegger. Having an affair and trying to hide it is somewhat different from fathering a child and not telling that child, or the children you raised with your wife.

Snakes are born snakes. Human beings are born responsible for their decisions, and capable of change.

One of our neighbors lead a double life for years. He had a wife and 2 sons, then he had an affair with a woman he got pregnant with twins and supported – set them up with their own house. The first family had no idea (until he told Wife 1 he wanted a divorce and by the way, he has a whole other family). His sons were devastated (according to a friend whose son was friends with them). I can’t imagine how hurt and betrayed they must have felt. Now, years later, they seem to have patched things up (or at least the sons are willing to join in on the “family photo” on the Christmas card).

What sickens me is the idea of lying, day after day, to the people you love. And the 2nd wife – how could she be ok with the idea of this man having another wife and another family? What did she tell herself – oh, he’s gonna get a divorce, someday.

And who knows if he isn’t now on to Family #3 (unbeknownst to Wife #2)

Sickening.

I am very concerned that pre-teens, teens, and young adults are growing up thinking that virtually all married people cheat on their spouses, based on the many high-profile “celebrity” cheating scandals of recent years. I worry that the young people assume everyone is doing it, and these people were exposed only because they are in the public eye. In reality, I do NOT believe extramarital affairs are the norm, but a kid would not get that impression based on what is in the news.

Hayden, I certainly don’t blame Maria for what Arnold has done. The only one responsible for Arnold’s behavior is Arnold.

I do question her judgement. After all, she did turn a blind eye to her husband’s philandering ways for many, many years.

And I stand by the snake.

Not from the husband’s point of view, but Silas Marner…

^^ it looks like Arnold lied not for 10 but 14 years. The ‘love child’ is about 14; Maria’s youngest child is 13, which could mean both women were pregnant about the same time. This just gets worse and worse.

I read that too that the original stories had the illegitimate child’s age as 10 but now at 14 and that Maria and the mistress were both pregnant at the same time.

I have to also feel sorry for this young boy because his whole life he has been lied to as to who is father is.

Just wondering if possibly Fabian Nunez knew about the illegitimate child and used it as blackmail to get Arnold to commute the sentence of his son.

Does anyone think the relationship between AS and this housekeeper ended after the child was born? Why did she continue to work for the family if not to be close to AS. I wonder if she is still married and if she has other children? Its hard to imagine how someone could live that life for 14+ years.

She is no longer married and I believe she has three other children.

Who knows if their affair continued past the birth of her son with Arnold. However, unless she voluntarily left her job, why would the family fire her all those years? Maria didn’t know of the affair/child. Arnold would have to give a reason to fire the housekeeper. But with this secret, what reason would he give? She had been with the family for years.

I heard that she wanted to go public so he fired her. Not sure what made him think THAT would keep her quiet!

Nah, I think the Fabian Nunez thing is just another example of Arnold’s moral turpitude.

LOL! YDS, you should know better than to wonder what men like him think. :D
