Yes, we would like to hear specifics about the program and get a feel, similar to what we did with the other schools that we are considering

I would contact the school (is it Desautels?) and see if they offer a specific tour for that school. We just went two weeks ago and did the university tour–there were a handful of HS juniors and a handful of accepted seniors–and then did a separate tour of the Schulich School of Music. That music school tour was ESSENTIAL. It made it crystal clear that that’s where my son needs to be.

As everyone has said so far renting in Montreal is easy and relatively cheap! I have had to sign a letter of guarantee once for my daughter and twice for my son. As for paying, it should be easy to handle. Our kids have Canadian bank accounts and I just transfer $ monthly and they pay their rent.
They may be easier way.
Do not hesitate to message if you have any questions!

At a loss here… son accepted into the commerce program. We want to visit but don’t have access to the link to sign up, apparently others have similar problem. Admissions sent me to the welcome center who don’t pick up the phone and don’t answer calls. Called the business school too as we want to visit there too, no body cares. We can’t commit to a school that is MIA. What can we do?

You can drive up and make a visit. The McGill campus is open to walk through and get a good feel for the university and the city. In the student center you can even speak to current students. We did that last summer. Don’t give up on them ! There are many of us who would be thrilled to be in your shoes and are holding on for the reviewed-decision-pending.

Are you looking for admitted tour? Or ordinary campus tours?

Admitted

Daughter finally admitted today for Bsc Physics from NYC Specialized. 36 ACT 1580 SAT 90 GPA. McGill was her first choice.

Decision on S24 portal changed to ā€˜Admitted Pending Final Results’ for both of his choices. What kind of final results are expected to fulfill this condition?

That is common at every university, that the student will continue to graduation with similar results. Failing a class, not graduating etc. may be cause for rescinding the offer.

His first choice is BSc program in Physics, Earth Sciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science. Would it be difficult for him to switch to Computer Science?

What two programs was he accepted to?

The two programs are quite unusual, so I took a screenshot of S24 portal here.

It appears that he has been admitted to the Faculty of Science area that includes computer science (as opposed to biological sciences). He would then declare a major in computer science with no problem.

The interfaculty program involves one major in science, say computer science, and one major in the humanities and social sciences.

Thanks for your explanation. Good to know that S24 got into a program that has no problem picking a CS major. The interfaculty program is also interesting as it seems to be very flexible, akin to pursuing a double major.

If it was me, i would just go. Do an unofficial tour. Stop by the admissions building and see if they can answer any specific questions.

My DS was accepted yesterday to his second choice program. He has not received any kind of decision on his first choice, the Faculty of Arts program. He is very interested in studying languages. Does anyone know how easy it is to transfer within the schools? Can it be done right away? Like other parents mentioned, there was nothing in the portal inviting him to visit, etc.

What program was he accepted into? Transfers into Arts should not be a problem. Transfers would have to be done towards the end of first year. They cannot be done right away.

He was accepted info Faculty of Science.
