Merit Pitt HS Class 2025 College 2029

Yes, it’s so frustrating not to know the COA.

OOS tuition rose 6.9% from 2022 to 2023, so it varies.

Yeah… 6% increase every year for OOS ( with not merit) is not justifiable for PITT given its overall ranking. By 3rd or 4th… it will be around 70K. From what i heard from a 00S parent now in final year… the expenses actual goes up more than estimated when kids go off campus housing in their second year … being a city setting and rental deposits, eating out etc! RPI Engineering at 49k COA looks more appealing if Pitt doesn’t give my kid any aid

What do you mean by “merit is only showing in his documents email”? What is documents email?

Pitt said they would notify by March 1 for any merit aid, correct? Is it know whether they will notify every accepted applicant, even if it’s a rejection?

Or, if it’s still crickets on March 1, is the assumption that they are not awarding ANY merit?

that’s what their website says (by 3/1), but our admissions officer who has been super helpful said mid-march…and folks on CC and reddit both say they’ve seen as late as april in prior years.

i don’t think they reject…i think you just don’t get word/an award. per our admissions rep, merit is “…competitive with only 20% of our admitted students receiving a merit-scholarship (and we have admitted over 33,000 students).”

last year’s thread is useful and has the surprise april release…with some letters back dated to mid-march

Where would merit be listed? Do they email you about it. We’ve been waiting since November

there are people on this thread who have already received merit…in the portal i believe the yellow button that says “learn about scholarships” is replaced with “view your scholarship” or a similar phrase.

we were admitted 11/7, got into honors on 2/7, and have been emailing our admissions rep whenever we’ve had questions…she has been awesome. at the bottom of your portal is your rep…i’d recommend emailing any questions you have. but it was our rep who said “merit will be released through mid-march.”

they release tranches every so often…we have no merit yet, but just staying patient. it does seem whenever there is an update to the portal (like with honors), you get an email essentially saying go check out your portal, there is a change to view. hopefully here in the next couple of weeks. good luck!

I assume if you get a financial aid letter with no scholarships (just panther pride award) then you are out of luck for scholarships?

where did you see the financial aid letter? I’m not seeing a financial aid tab in the portal

same. where is that located?

S25 received an email today with the information, but it’s in the PeopleSoft Dashboard.

https://passport.pitt.edu/idp/profile/SAML2/Redirect/SSO?execution=e1s1

Is PeopleSoft Dashboard the same as the Pitt Applicant Portal?

Nothing here yet for financial package (though C25 does have their scholarship letter) maybe they are rolling those out as they’re ready

It’s not the same. If you log in to the dashboard using your Pitt Applicant Portal log in, you’ll see a financial aid tab on the left side.

Just got a financial aid email as well.

Does it list merit?

It does list merit, but we got notification of that a few weeks after acceptance.

I just have to voice our PITT disappointment. My student reached out to their admissions rep TWICE without any response. After no response, they emailed admissions directly and hasn’t received a response. My student was accepted back in early October and is high stats OOS and received absolutely no merit. They keep receiving info that does not pertain to them such as being a first generation student etc. The merit, plus incorrect info, was the point of their emailing their rep but no response at all from the school. We received the financial statement tonight and it includes nothing but loan options. I told my student we need to take PITT off the list officially but wanted to let other parents know about the complete disregard from admissions.

same here… disappointed … just 5k unsubsidized loan option as expected. The COA is actually going to be higher than listed because it seems that they have underestimated the indirect costs (other than tuition/housing/food) which amount to$3488 vs the same for Virginia Tech that gave us expected indirect cost of $10844. Considering Pitt is in a city setting, the indirects will be higher. So, actually we are looking at well over $70k for Pitt with no merit aid. We are debating seriously and thinking if it is worth it.

The lack of response to 3 emails is troubling to us. At these prices, the rep should have emailed back and it makes me wonder about responsiveness overall as a student. Good luck with your decision!
