Yes. I was genuinely shocked. So were others I spoke with. In hindsight, it does seem strange to have been so shocked, but that was my first reaction. What surprises me is how many young people seem to be really impacted by his death. I initially thought it would be something felt more by my generation, but that isn’t the case at all.

Another article on the possible financial impact of the promoter that also shows how skeptical others were that Michael Jackson could pull this off - obviously his health was a major question.

It is a real shame that none of the comeback concerts had been performed yet. According to some who have been at rehearsals, Michael Jackson was dancing and performing like Michael of old!

I hope that the rehearsals were being filmed–probably as part of a TV special that would have aired. It would be interesting to see if he really was performing well again.

I just hope that the stress of the comeback wasn’t too much and somehow led to his death.

What rather irks me is the fact that CNN doesn’t seem to be able to find anything else going on in the world. I didn’t watch the coverage yesterday, hoping that today when I tuned in, they would actually address other issues and events. But, apparently they’ve morphed into “E” Entertainment Network:rolleyes:

I can’t believe the media is not pointing out the absurdity of Michael Jackson’s parents thinking they should have custody of his children. Joe Jackson’s children have said their father physically and sexually abused them; and I believe at least one daughter said the mother did nothing to stop her father from sexually abusing her, despite being told it was happening.

I read at least one news report that indicated Michael Jackson’s kids did not know and had not spent time with their cousins or the rest of the Jackson family.

I also read a People.com article saying that the Jackson family had staged an intervention a couple years ago after a lawyer indicated Michael was abusing prespription drugs and alcohol. Michael was “p***ed off”, and nothing else happened or was done. So the family’s “shock” and attempts to place the blame on someone (other than Michael Jackson) for Michael Jackson’s death is rather ridiculous.

Also, Michael’s mother is 79 years old and Joseph Jackson is 80.

One of the well-adjusted and well-off Jackson siblings should do the right thing by adopting these children. From what I heard they are adorable childs and apparently MJ was a good father to them inspite whatever you might think about him.

I read an interview with Lisa Marie. She said Michael talked to her about being afraid he’d end up like her dad and he didn’t want it to happen but that it was likely.

I’d kind of pondered this, too, but with the speculation (and firm belief by many people) that child molestation went on there, I don’t know if it would be the same kind of attraction. It’s possibly a crime scene of the worst type.

What an attention whore Jesse Jackson is. I can see the various entertainers on CNN who have worked with him, but Jesse Jackson? Give me a break.

I wonder if MJ left any instructions as to who would care for those kids in the event something happened to him. For all the precautions he took with them while he had them, you would think he made provisions for them in case he was incapacitated. He HAD to have had the advice and warnings from his lawyers.

not that i am a jesse jackson fan, but perhaps he was involved in the tours that Michael Jackson/Jackson 5 had way back…he allowed civil rights workers to tag along with the tours and they were able to register something like 80000 voters from the fans attending the concerts.
