Michigan State EA Decision Notification

My husband thought MSU did an excellent job organizing the day (I couldn’t go). The speakers were enthusiastic and great ambassadors of honors and MSU. For my son, it was very helpful to go to the Academic breakout session - lots of helpful information! My son said the test was definitely the AP test of all AP tests - very tough, but nothing you should try to prepare for - either you will know it, or not. It seems the honors students are treated very well at MSU, with many ‘special’ opportunities. Good luck to your student!

We thought it was worthwhile for the parent session, although much was repeated in the student honors session later. We enjoyed hearing about engineering as well.

I thought it could have been organized a little better. We had a 2 hour lunch break and then a college and resource fair. I think maybe 1 hour for lunch would have been more than enough or run the fairs during lunch. I would have also liked a tour of the engineering facilities instead of just the presentation and q&a. But, overall a good day.

My son said the test was interesting and weird, lol. He’s glad he went and did it and learned more about MSU. He wishes he didn’t have to leave home at 6am to get there on time. haha.

Watch the weather for Feb 4. We are supposed to get snow Wed/Thurs, so plan accordingly.

There are supposed to be links to 360 degree tours of the different MSU dorms. We haven’t really looked into this much yet. You get to indicate a preference of room style, but not the exact dorm, from what I understand. The campus is very large (with buses) and has a pretty river running through it. I think the website should have pictures to give you a better idea. I also joined a Fb MSU parents page where there is quite a bit of information if you are interested.

Would you mind sharing the link to the MSU parents FB page?

Does anyone know when professorial assistantships are awarded? I thought I heard January but haven’t seen them mentioned yet by anyone.

When we were at ADS last Friday, they said 2nd week of February for those.

I just looked in last years thread and the first I see one mentioned was in late February (2/27) - looks like they came out after ADS participants were notified if they advanced.

Sure! Here’s some other highlights from my notes:
Professional Assistantship: 8-10 hours/week, $3600/year, about 200 kids

ADS results:
Week of Feb 25 - all students should know their status
Late Feb/early March - interviews

Honors college:
about 4300 kids, 85% come with AP/IB/DE credits
Waived general studies specific requirements and can count different classes for those
Waived prerequisites when appropriate
50% do study abroad
housing is not a building, but a floor in various halls. 3/4 choose to live in honors.

Thank you for taking notes!
I now recall some of these things that were said. It was a long day and I was just taking it all in.

Just curious to know, other universities are sending email regarding housing and few other information . Has anyone received any such emails?

Received Honors college invitation(International Student). But there is no information about Honors Scholarship. Any idea When it will be released?

Log into your portal and look there.
