Miley Cyrus at the VMAs

My people know his people. :)

Knowing nothing from nobody I get the impression that her parents are shut out of her life by those who surround her and if they say anything negative they know they’ll really lose any hope of staying in contact and being able to help her.

It sounds like she’s surrounded by an unsavory group of people who have zero interest in her well being.

For love of decency -someone tell her to put her tongue back in her mouth.

I was watching Fashion Police last night - seems like Hollywood in general wasn’t in love with that performance.

The lyrics to Blurred Lines say it all and that song is mild compared to some. Miley merely acted them out and it was not pretty. Blurred Lines has been the number one song for weeks now. Robin Thicke is secretly very happy that Miley took the fall and is enjoying even more notoriety. Shocking? In Hollywood? No! Lindsay Lohan move over…

I don’t recall whether someone else has already made this point, but we should all be happy that incidents of our own poor judgment at that age, or of our kids’ poor judgment at that age, are not broadcast on national TV. That is why it is so sad when the famous ones either don’t have good advisors, or don’t listen to them.

That is such a good point missypie.

I love the foam finger maker’s comments though. I think they are right, the foam finger will survive this. (which is not necessarily a good thing depending on how you feel about foam fingers lol).

Robin Thicke is lucky - so much attention on Miley C that no one is mocking that dreadful suit he was wearing.

Really, who is advising this young girl? Whoever it is should be fired. I don’t totally agree with the line of thought that this performance was meant to “shock”. The magnitude of the negative publicity is pretty clear and this surely does not serve her well. She has lost credibility and has little hope of being taken seriously as an artist. I do think it will effect her career.

HarvestMoon1, what do you think the intent was, and whose intent was it?

Deborah T - Your guess would be as good as mine.

At least RT and MC are being punished by consumers for the VMAs. Neither one of them have the top single on itunes (Blurred Lines is #2 and We Can’t Stop is #4). Nor is MC’s We Can’t Stop Video #1 on itunes (it is #3).

I think that this hit to their pocket books is the way to get a message of societal disapproval across. I’m sure that those on CC who disapprove will refrain from buying her album in October. The reduction in sales should show her manager/handlers.

Never bought her stuff. I think the kids only bought the Party In the USA. That was a cute song, I admit.

I thought that there was unanimous disapproval of MC appropriating any aspect of black urban experience, but I seem to have gotten that wrong. MC seems to have her “fans” from those for whom the black urban experience is real.

Seems that tongue out thing is part of her twerkin from the photo off stage with juicy-jay.

^^If you have seen Kathy Griffin riff on it about her teen choice awards performance, you won’t ever think that way. :p

Is that the year Kathy Griffin took Levi Johnson as her date?

Really? Now Kathy Griffith is pretty funny.

Yes. I just googled to make sure her riff was about performing that specific song. KG’s video clip is still out there.

“By all accounts, Bangerz is set to take over the world one inappropriate foam-hand gesture at a time.”

Certainly whatever it takes for record sales especially if it means debasing yourself publicly, is necessary to retain integrity as a musician.
