Did you mean oldest business model or oldest profession?
;)

I saw a clip of her dance on youtube. I wouldn’t say it was vulgar or provocative. It was more just weird.

First of all, you can’t be sexy with a foam finger. That just looked silly.

Same goes for the tongue thing. I can’t decide whether the tongue resembled a fish flopping about or the creature from ‘Alien’.

Here is a reviewer’s interpretation of MC’s MVA antics that also supports the idea that this was a way for the MVA’s to “waste” RT at the end of a pablum summer.

<a href=“Blowing the Smooth Out of the Summer - The New York Times”>Blowing the Smooth Out of the Summer - The New York Times;

While I think MC has personal issues, if the pop music buying public sees all this the way this review does, MC may just be “ok” after all.

I think there is a disconnect in this thread in the sense that some are confusing disapproval with a sense of moral superiority (I think I’m putting this badly).

What I mean is that I have no issues with someone embracing their sexuality or using it for gain. It is done all the time. In subtle ways and not so subtle ways. What I think a lot of us object to is the idea of a young woman so desperate to change her image and seem grown up that she is willing to exploit herself and others as a means to that end. In a way that was, if not embarrassing for her, embarrassing for the viewers watching. Her performance was so forced, inauthentic and desperate that it was hard to watch and NOT feel like you wanted to go wrap a blanket around her and tell her that it was past her bedtime.

From the clip I saw, it wasn’t sexual at all.It was like a child trying to mimic her idea of what she saw as " adult" behavior.
But unlike non purient childish behavior, it wasnt * sweet or cute *, it was pathetic & awkward.

This is just a tame part of an interview with MC in The Notion Magazine.

[Miley Cyrus Strips Down For Notion Magazine](<a href=“Miley Cyrus Strips Down For Notion Magazine | HuffPost Entertainment”>Miley Cyrus Strips Down For Notion Magazine | HuffPost Entertainment)

EPTR–you said it very well. The worst part is that it was way past MY bedtime…

Haven’t caught up with this thread in a couple of days, so forgive me if someone has already posted the following… D2 ‘liked’ a blog on her Facebook wall today, and I, of course, the stalking mom, had to check it out. I thought it was brilliantly written, and wanted to share it with anyone who cares to take the time to look it up.

Unfortunately, since it is a blog, I can’t link it on CC, but if you google “How To Talk With Your Sons About Robin Thicke” and “Eric Clapp”, you will find the piece he wrote.

I don’t have sons, so I can’t comment on the complexities of having an open dialogue with them regarding sexuality. I’m sure there are some awesome moms and dads out there who are having these conversations with their sons; I hope this article inspires more to step out of their comfort zone and do so.

I haven’t read this entire thread so I apologize if I am repeating anything already discussed.

It seems to me that we are focusing the discussion in the wrong place. MC is a 20 year old, and 20 year olds do wild things.

The big question is, why in the world is a 36 year old married man, with children of his own, participating in this mess and why is there so much blame on her rather than on him?

Is it just accepted that men do this??? He’s nearly twice her age and should have known better. Why aren’t people scandalized by HIM?

eptr in #421: great post.

@calla It’s Robin Thicke.

Niquii, I did know that, but thanks. I just didn’t say the name. I figured people would know who I meant.

LOL No, I meant:
It’s Robin Thicke.

It’s Robin Thicke.

AKA Mr. Panty-dropping-heart-stopping-blue-eyed-stud who could afford a “smudge” on his crystal clear appearance. Where if his fans don’t like his latest song they can easily turn to his stellar past ones and flash back to the [good times](http://youtu.be/0DdCoNbbRvQ).

Ah, I see. You are referring to the teflon on his suit and on his reputation!

Maybe because he didn’t seem to participate. He just stood there. Take away Miley, and he could have just have easily been waiting for a bus.

Why would there be blame on him? What could he have done, shoved her away? Tripped her? Started yelling at her? I’d imagine that he was concentrating on singing his butt off and paying little attention to her antics. Now it is a creepy song and all, that’s for sure, hold him accountable for that. And especially hold him accountable for that awful suit.

But unless he choreographed Miley’s “performance” or told her to do it, he’s not responsible for what she did.

Who ever came up with the idea of Robin Thicke, that song, and Miley Cryus all on the same stage together should be shouldering the blame. How was that supposed to turn out good?

Some producer set the stage having Robin, a guy who looks like a guy in his mid 30s, sing a song about wanting a “good girl” with Miley, who looks under age and young enough to be his daughter. Then Miley shows up in sneakers and pigtails and it has great potential for child molester creepyness.

Yeah, it has been discussed on this thread more than once.

I saw this on CNN this morning:

[Let’s not let Robin Thicke off the hook - CNN.com](http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/30/living/robin-thicke-responsibility-miley-cyrus/index.html?hpt=hp_bn11)

yes, apparently Robin Thicke’s wife was “okay” with the performance because she had seen it at rehearsal. So if that’s true Robin Thicke was “in” on it and accepted it.

His wife “Patton was reportedly fine with Cyrus’ act. The actress allegedly knew exactly what was going to go down prior to the show because she had been to the rehearsals.”

His mother “Robin thought it would be fun to include Miley, but he didn’t realize how much she would overshadow him. This was his big night and big performance,”

Thicke as victim? ;)

somehow his mom is implying Thicke didn’t know what Miley’s performance would consist of, but his wife did?? huh? and why do we need to hear from his mom, he’s 36, sheesh

Robin Thicke knows what sells and he’s running out of time to sell it. He’s got more people talking about him (even the holier than thou tripe from CNN) than ever before in his heretofore lackluster career. He had already made the Hail Mary pass when he shot a video full of naked women. All Miley did was run it into the end zone for him - almost literally.
