I’m all in favor of things that make members of the Family Research Council and the Parents Television Council heads spin.

heh, heh – me too

It is an annual offering for one or more people to try and out do previous years for going over the top,.

Each year folks tune in to see what may happen. 2003 had the open mouth kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears

All of it is so uninspired and predictable…even the “controversial” staged moments like that.

We really have reached a low point in our society.

I agree with the statement that she has the body of a young teen.
She isnt quite skin & bone, but there isnt anything to her. No shape and little musculature.
To twerk you pretty much need something besides a white girl butt.
But 20 is still a baby in my book, if she adds more weights and strength building exercise to her routine I expect she could quickly add some curves.
Wait- she was described as tall, but she is 5’5"?
5’5" is tall?
Does that mean that 5’2" is average?
:D

I think we achieved that in the 1960s with the dance the Gator. This dance was poorly depicted in Animal House since the females did not do their part, but it will give you the main idea…

I know that adults thought so especially since they “knew” that *Louie, Louie *was pure sexual filth.

That would require too great an investment of time. I don’t watch the show. The next day I watch very brief you tube videos of whatever gets the most buzz.

missypie–very efficient use of time. A++++

Myself and most of the kids I know at school didn’t enjoy Miley’s performance either; not just the adults aghast at this one. Considering her past performances and behavior, I didn’t really expect any better out of her though.

It’s sad. To me, it looks like a “stick it to you” jab at her Christian parents (last I heard, they were Christian, anyway).

How embarrassing for her. Some day she will be middle-aged, and have kids, God willing. They will see this.

There are many recent happenings that may equate to low points in our society but I can’t imagine that a television performance is one of them.

I finally watched it to see what all the buzz is about. It looked like a teenager dancing suggestively in clunky sneakers and granny panties. She is her own caricature.

Her kids will see this some day and laugh at her.

cartera, I didn’t say this single event was a low point in our society. But it is part of a dumbing-down for the masses that I don’t understand.

I still don’t know what a VMA is. Is it a type of medical procedure?

*** Within 2 years she will become a withered desiccated husk incapable of causing anyone any amusement at all. ***

“I know this won’t last. I give the Stones another two years.”
Mick Jagger, June 1964

That is a great reaction.
But if you look at the inserted picture on the bottom of the screen you will see that they were reacting to Lady Gaga.

Video Music Award show on MTV mini, the channel that used to show music videos. Every year, something semi-salacious happens to make people talk about the show. Easy to ignore in my book. Hardly a sign of the apocalypse.

She is her own caricature.
Agree, it made me sad and uncomfortable. She is a caricature of herself and others. No matter the content it wasn’t enjoyable. I never liked her voice talking or singing.
I did like Gaga so am not a prude, and I love Bruno mars, but it you listen to the unedited version of gorilla you would be shocked too. I just wish these young stars would find their own voice and stop the been there done that, its pathetic.

Just watched it.

She’s severely disconnected from the real world. She’s like an out of control gremlin that keeps jumping around on the stage that won’t stop grabbing its crotch.

Hardly “the masses” either. 12 million in 2 viewings Sunday out of a population of over 300 million. Most people would not know what you were talking about if you mention VMA (not just mini)

Good lord, quite a literal crowd we have here today!

If Miley Cyrus’s antics are not for “the masses,” I don’t know who they are for…

This is the best quote of the day (although there are many good ones here):
