@gosmom - D1’s rebates are now well over $1000 in about the same time period.
^ like I said, I didn’t think I did that much online shopping, so it adds up before you know it!
“bows down to teriwtt’s D1”
I prefer mrrebates to ebates. My SIL is registered from my referral and I enjoy the kickback!
Both Polyvore and Shopstyle are limited in their searching to the catalogs of a few sites, just and FYI… I always check other places on the web.
“…to me, it just doesn’t feel special enough.”
IMO, that dress has sophistication without being bling-y, and it can be re-purposed in the future. But if you think the shape does not work for your body…

Nice dresses as usual BB!! Off topic, but what’s with the styling on the first two photos? Those shoes are totally wrong for those dresses imho, especially the first one!
Yikes, I did not pay attention to the shoes. Agree, wrong color and style!
I like that last (chiffon) dress, BB!
Yes, I think that last chiffon dress is lovely as well.
Hello again, ladies! You are so fun and helpful!
@atp I checked out Shopstyle this morning. That is a cool search engine. Wow, it turns up thousands of items and allows you to narrow down various criteria. I saw many of the same dresses I had seen in my own searches already. However, it is a handy site to know about overall.
I will look up this ebate thing you guys are talking about later today. Sounds great.
@BunsenBurner you are such a good shopper and stylist! I like the first dress and bookmarked it. Ironically, the second dress is one I had in my very first post on this thread, but in a wine color and my hesitation is that my D doesn’t want me to wear the same color way as the bridal party. However, the link you gave me, while the same dress, is in Plus sizes (which mine wasn’t and I don’t normally buy Plus, but it could possibly work) and comes in Navy, so that is a possibility. The third dress is very pretty. I am not going to consider it because it barely has a sleeve, but also more because of the empire waste and the fluttery ruffle thing on the bust line, neither of which would work well for my large bust. Pretty for someone else though!
This one? I really like this one!
Yeah, @thumper1 I did bookmark that one that BB found.
Gotta narrow down options now and see what I order. Will post here later. Also, have to send to D…she works round the clock and hopefully will get to it.
I did get a text from her this morning on her way to rehearsal that her fiancé picked out his suit and it is heather grey with a burgundy tie.
She then said she may not want to get ivory shoes for herself and that it may be too boring! She is thinking color. I suggested gold since her bridal party scheme is burgundy and gold and she said that sounded good. She is not the traditional sort. This week is her follow up appointment at BHLDN where she will finalize her bridal dress choice with her best friend, though I am pretty sure what it will be (and I was at the original appointment with her best buds too). She likely will pick out some hair adornment (she doesn’t want a veil).
nevermind. Not flared.
Posting for folks who are looking at dresses:
That is a striking dress, BB, especially for anyone looking for black & white. I am personally not a fan of when the slip/underskirt is considerably shorter than the sheer fabric but know that many do like the look and that it IS popular.
Uh-oh, Saks sale is almost over! Tomorrow is the last day before the savings turn into a turnip!
Macy’s FF began today. 25% off.
While not a dress for a wedding, I was able to order a couple of wedding gifts with the Macy’s 25% off. Both brides are registered there and their plates and silverware were on sale plus the 25% off This made for a nice gift!!
BB, ironically, before seeing your latest post just now, I had come across that first Teri Jon dress earlier this evening online and had added it to my list!
Soozievt- that Teri Jon dress is nice. If you like it you should consider ordering it tonight. Once Friends and Family sell ends tomorrow the dress goes back up to regular price.
soozievt, I was unable to check this thread over the weekend. As I was catching up, I started worrying about your seder…Hope all was nice.
I am facing a challenge even more daunting than finding my own dress. I am trying to outfit my 82 year old mother for Son’s wedding, from 650 miles away. She has shrunk 4 inches over the years and has lost a lot of weight since my dad’s death. In height she’s now a petite; she has the body type of a woman her age (i.e. sagging wherever one can sag) [it’s going to happen to me, too! Yikes!] She has lost much of her vision and doesn’t have the stamina for a shopping trip.
I am going to visit her later in the week. I ordered a bunch of dresses online, all of which are too big; I’ll have to return them all to the store when I’m there. I’m going to check luggage and bring about 8 more dresses up with me.
It’s too late to order anything else and I swear I’ve looked at all the petite dresses online anyway. I don’t know why I’m posting this, unless it’s to ask if anyone knows of a brand that fits the plump saggy tiny old lady body type well, while still looking fresh and modern.
@missypie I’m not sure how dressy your son’s wedding is but have you looked at Talbot’s? They offer both petite and petite plus sized. They also have a 30% off sale going on right now. Perhaps, if she likes one of the dresses but the fit is too big, you can take her and the dress for alterations while you are visiting her.
