More snow Monday?

Heleva was the one I bought! I haven’t tried Kroger- I’ll do that (I usually shop at Meijer because I do things like shop at midnight :p). Normally, I like Dean’s.

Snow just started to pick up a bit. They’re now calling for 10 inches. Ew.

It’s snowing in Pittsburgh.

@romanigypsyeyes, @abasket, have you tried a 16 oz. tub of sour cream with Mrs. Grass Soup recipe mixed in, then refrigerated to let the flavors diffuse? French Onion is the go-to flavor, but not the only way to go!

I have not but I’m putting it on my to-do list!

I think part of the reason to fill up the car with gas may be the memories from Superstorm Sandy two years ago. There were 70s era, hours-long gas lines due to shortages. NYC, Long Island and Westchester county were more affected than CT, but the NY residents drove up into CT in search of gas, creating long lines in CT. I think NYC finally instituted even/odd rationing and that helped; Long Island took longer to address the issue.

Gas was needed for generators and for the cars of those expected to return to work. Power was out up to two weeks in some areas. A second storm came in a week to ten days after Sandy, knocking out power restored a day or two earlier.

Also, the downed utility poles blocked access for some homeowners. Fortunately, our gas tanks are all stocked from this past Mon/Tues storm, so we are set for whatever happens next!

Marilyn, Point Loma is just beautiful, good luck!

If it’s a dip, I’m in!!!

Just got in from shoveling another at least 3 - so we must be at at least 6 by now. Town is going to a level 3 - meaning only “emergency” vehicles allowed on the road at 3pm - the blowing and drifting is REALLY bad.

The blowing and drifting are bad here too (WI) and there is still snow coming down. Chicago is under a blizzard warning–I’m hoping my son’s flight tonight isn’t delayed too badly. But I’d rather he wait it out at O’Hare if it’s too dangerous to fly.

Stupid winter…we have been having such a mild one this year, until now!

We had a few random flurries this morning before 8 am. Then the sun came out. It’s a beautiful day…definitely the calm before the storm.

Our CT forecast is for snow, changing to a wintry mix, then back to snow…6-12 inches or 10-16 inches…depends which forecast you read. And it also depends on where the mix/snow line is. Where I live, in the northern part of the state, I’m hoping for all snow. Nothing worse than snow-ice-snow!

This actually sounds more difficult in terms of driving than the “blizzard” last week.

It is almost balmy today down here in SW CT. Ice is the serious concern here for the morning. Hoping temps increase enough to bring rain and wash away the snow we already have!

We had rain, then ice yesterday here in central Iowa. It started snowing about 5 last night and hasn’t stopped. I have cleaned my car three times today. It is getting old, though I will have to do it once more in order to go pick up S from work.

I work as part of the management team of an apartment complex and live on site. I am on call this weekend. Our maintenance men shoveled twice this morning and less than an hour later people were wondering why they hadn’t shoveled. I also have someone that is supposed to be moving in today, though they haven’t shown up for their keys yet.

Same here. Enjoyed the bright sunshine. Not windy and not really that cold either, so we took the dogs for a nice long walk.

Very cold but sunny and pretty here today. I went to the supermarket after church and everything looked completely normal, except that they had zillions of packages of chicken wings.

I got H’s down parka out of the attic yesterday: definitely a must for trips to the dog park, which is what I must do now.

They’re already closing school districts for tomorrow.

It was 4 years ago today that MSU got its first snow day in decades. I remember it vividly.

Just saw a couple cross country skiing up our street. That was a first!

Not to be a buzzkill, but this morning was a bikinis-in-the-ocean (literally) type of day down on Broad Beach…

That’s OK… D’s friend from NYC who is visiting D in LA posted pictures of them down at Venice Beach this afternoon. If it weren’t for this storm, I wouldn’t have purged a ton of stuff from our basement (maybe I should post on the bag-a-week thread).

We’re at 600 school closings including a few universities. Of course, not Ann Arbor.

I will not be able to get my car out of the driveway. The snow is over the tires already. Luckily, I only have one class tomorrow and it’s an afternoon class but it’s a 3 hour class so I can’t really afford to miss it. Clearly will not jeopardize my safety for class though!

My son’s international flight out of O’Hare just got canceled. My Chicago friends say it is whiteout conditions right now.

It is interesting how much more accurate the predictions of this storm have been versus the one last week on the east coast.

Schools are closing here too for Monday. It will be interesting to see how close the snow estimates are to reality.

Last week, our governor closed the state roads…and there were only 11 accidents statewide during the storm. And the clean up was quick with no drivers out on the roads. I wonder if he will do that again. Snow totals are more for some parts of the state, and less for others.

Let people drive home from the super bowl…then stay off the streets until the snow stops.
