Murder of the UnitedHealthcare CEO

I thought they were little kids?

No. They are the age that could possibly be very active on here – HS and college

This guy clearly had the wherewithal to formulate a better plan than what has been revealed. Given that he followed the Unabomber (schizophrenia), and being at a common age for diagnosing schizophrenia, he could be going through a mental health crisis…maybe for the first time.

Is the employee at McDonald’s now in danger? The assassin appears to have a mentally unstable fan club.

His grandfather is a prominent real estate developer and they own the Lorien Health Systems in Maryland. I have not read anything about his parents but he obviously comes from a lot of money, as Gilman is a very expensive school.

This is interesting. Read the “about page” of Lorien Health now and here is what it used to say:

Not surprising. Everyone is Googling “Mangione” right now and it’s not a very common last name so it would likely to pop up in a search. They themselves may have no idea what’s going on right now and are scrambling to try to understand. The last thing they likely want is a thousand reporters showing up at their place of business trying to get a scoop about Luigi or a quote from the family.

Wow, people are crazy. I get the anger at the murder victim’s profession, but to call the employee a rat is beyond belief. Who knows who the suspect’s next target might have been?

Incredibly high functioning and accomplished people can end up with schizophrenia as often as anyone else. It may not be noticed or start until past the teenage years.

What’s interesting is not that he was smart but that he appears to have been quite social with many friends. Not a loner or someone who couldn’t form connections. That social interest seems like what did him in. Wanting to flirt with the hotel clerk.

I just finished reading a fictional book about a rich young man who murdered his girlfriend. A lot of time was dedicated to how social media can be manipulated to get people to “take sides”. False narratives are created and flood the internet - pics, memes, videos, fake interviews - everything. They can be distraction tactics, utilized to rile people up or simply to shift focus. I’m seeing a lot of that here - social media is exploding with fake takes and misinformation. We live in scary times.

The shooter’s parents own two golf courses, one private and one that appears to be a resort. They also own a radio station, according to reports, but I didn’t find anything about that. The information on the website of one of the golf courses shows a deep commitment to giving back to the community.

And it’s entirely possible that a lot of the social media comments may be placed there on purpose by foreign actors. This is the new way to tear apart the sense of decency and community our country has long represented to the world. The idea is to weaken democracy by any means possible. Some people post awful stuff, and bad actors amplify it & make it seem like “everyone” feels that way.

Page linked above includes photos of the gun and a fake New Jersey ID found.

Actually I’d bet that most of those comments are from disgusting people right here in this country. I highly doubt there is some hugh foreign campaign in regards to this particular perpetrator.

Mangione last worked for TrueCar in 2023 and began praising the Unabomber in Feb 2024:

LA Times:

“ “While these actions tend to be characterized as those of a crazy luddite,” he wrote in February, “they are more accurately seen as those of an extreme political revolutionary.

“It’s easy to quickly and thoughtless write this off as the manifesto of a lunatic, in order to avoid facing some of the uncomfortable problems it identifies. But it’s simply impossible to ignore how prescient many of his predictions about modern society turned out.”

He then copied in a comment from Reddit about the manifesto in which a commenter wrote: “When all other forms of communication fail, violence is necessary to survive.” “
