Our daughter is a senior at LIU post. Please feel free to message if you have any questions
Nope. I got it directly from the school itself.
To anyone auditioning for the University of Michigan: If youâre attending an in-person audition in January, Iâd really appreciate it if you could share what the experience was like, if itâs not too much trouble. Thank you!
I am attending Jan 17th! Def will report back!
For anyone whoâs already done the BoCo dance call, how was it?
Hartt prescreen results are out!! (:
I want to start this by saying i am happy for everyone who has passed their pre-screens or auditions so far. i know you all are amazing actors/actresses and i hope you get into the school you want.
I am personally struggling because I have been rejected from every program i have submitted a prescreen to which are
- Syracuse
- Ithaca
- point park
- Shenandoah
- Molloy/CAP21
Dose anyone have any advice or words of encouragement? It is just hard to have hope for other programs I have applied to and is making me doubt my abilities as an actress. I feel like I wont get into a program and then wont be able to accomplish my dream of being on Broadway.
any advice is thanked.
Iâm sorry to hear that youâre feeling discouraged. Please remember that there is a lot of rejection in this process, and in this business, and it often has nothing to do with talent.
The programs youâve mentioned are very competitive, and many people get prescreen rejections from them. What other programs have you applied to? Have you applied to any that donât require prescreens?
If you donât get an acceptance to a program (and Iâm not at all suggesting you wonât) is it possible for you to take a gap year to focus on training?
I honestly think we were fortunate that my daughter attended Drewnifieds in LA the first weekend of November. It helped boost her confidence and she was seen by a lot of programs that we werenât initially considering (Molloy, SDSU, UNR, University of Utah, etc.). She waited and applied late to other schools that werenât in attendance, and hasnât faired as well. I think it really does come down to getting âseenâ early on as there are so many talented applicants.
Keep the faith and donât get discouraged! I also recommend emailing the schools and asking for another chance. My daughter did this with Millikin who rejected her for the BFA program and they wrote her back and gave her options to audition at both Chicago Unifieds and virtually. Let them know how interested you are in their program and WHY specificallyâŠthey may reconsider!
Does anyone have info on why the mass exodus of the 3 faculty members from BW to Oberlin? Iâm really not trying to gossip. However, if my child is seriously considering both programs, itâd help to have all of the facts before making a decision. Is BW in financial trouble & in danger of closing like UARTS? Were those 3 faculty members simply offered higher salaries at Oberlin? (if so, thatâs awesome, no judgement) Difference of opinion in the direction of the program? Etc. How can anyone commit to either school without knowing what happened & how the program at BW will change under new leadership???
BW has been struggling financially, although they appear to be taking steps to deal with this. Oberlin offered VB an opportunity to run the MT program the way she wanted, without financial constraints.
If you are accepted into BW, just do a check into their financial situation before committing.
Thank you!
I hope you best luck and break legs!
Passed Hartt!!
Thanks for letting us know!!
Please do not let the results of prescreens define your worth! There are plenty of examples of actors who did not fare well in the college audition process and went on to have successful careers.
As others have said, hopefully you still have some schools to hear from (including a few that were non-audition based). The schools you listed all have very small classes therefore a very tiny percentage of kids who apply will get offers. There are schools who are likely still accepting applications (look back through past years posts to get an idea of which schools accept late applications) in case you want to add a few more schools.
Although, this might not be something you want to hear at this point, there are also wonderful stories from past years of kids who decided to take a gap year (either didnât get in anywhere or didnât like their options at the end of the process) and went on to have a very positive experience in their second go-around. If itâs feasible financially, working with one of the college coaching groups, can be invaluable with helping to pick out audition material and maybe more importantly, coming up with a well rounded list. I donât think many people realize how incredibly competitive it is to get into programs (especially the well heard about programs) since they take so few kids a year.
Wishing you the best of luck. This process is pretty brutal for everyone, not just you!
