Name A Product You Don’t Get The Hype About

Some things fall under the “you get what you pay for” category. Cookware is a prime example. I will spend money on a higher-end frying pan, but not for a pot that I basically use for boiling water.

Teslas
whiskey or bourbon - all of it tastes like poo
the $50 sweatpants from Pop Flex that my older daughter raves about
anything Lululemon
gigantic Stanley drink containers
Ivy League colleges

I call those ‘2 story trucks.’

I just got my first pair of Airpods. I like them, but still think they are ridiculous looking. The first time I saw someone wearing them (several years ago obviously) I thought they were hearing aids! Of course now they can be.

I can’t stand AirPods either. After about 15-20 min of having them in, my ears ache. And it’s not because of the sound. Gave mine to one of my kids instead!

The “dusty” or chemical taste often associated with truffle oil comes from the use of 2,4-dithiapentane, a synthetic compound used to mimic the aroma of truffles in many commercially available truffle oils.

I’m with you on the taste of truffle but since what I’ve experienced is basically a synthetic chemical I’ll withhold my opinion until I get to taste the real thing. Preferably in France…

I’m sure it’s my age showing but they just look sloppy to me (and some are very pricey). I don’t like a monochrome look either.

I have trouble getting AirPods to stay in my ear canal. I’ve had two different generations and same issue. I use them to work out at home and if I want to tune out on a plane.

I think I am in the minority I don’t get the appeal of flavored seltzers – they all taste off to me. If I want flavor in my seltzer, I’ll just add a bit of whatever juice I have in the house.

From the TIL department: that travel sets can refer to something other than a matching 26" and garment bag.

And people pay money for separate clothes for traveling?!? Do they think they’re crossing the Atlantic on the Queen Mary?

Here’s an example of what I bet 4kids4us was thinking about…yes they can look like pajamas, aren’t flattering on some women, and some are $$$$ like this…

I think the travel sets are a product of influencer promotion and affordability because many exist on Amazon

I’m not against it but that is what I see

Example

Oh, that wasn’t what I was thinking of at all. Those look like real outfits to me. In my mind, it’s more athleisure wear.

All three of my daughters wear the matching separates, I have to say they look very comfortable, they always wear them when they travel. I can’t imagine how I’d look in them!:joy:

Should we spin off a new thread to discuss travel sets?

As the OP of this thread, feel free to now take this thread whatever direction it naturally flows……

What I WILL say though is in stating your dislike, try not to “diss” the product to the point of making someone who likes it feel slighted (?). For instance I did not say that Bomba socks were trash and anyone who buys them is wasting their $.

Maybe travel sets are not for you and you can share why (for YOU) but they may be the greatest thing to be invented for someone else - most popular products become popular for a reason - even if it’s not yours.

I agree. the ones in the pic look like brown pajamas. :joy:

For anyone interested in the topic of travel/vacation clothing, there is a thread.

Not to mention that 3 inch thick slice of onion. I need a whole container of Tictacks to cover up that onion breath…

I’m not a fan of most burger joints. I know there are folks who LOVE them but I’m not a fan. Also, Panera is pretty expensive to me—the KIDS Mac & cheese was nearly $10 and didn’t look amazing (and the kid didn’t eat much of it).
